Great Full Synthetic gear oil for a 2013 Tahoe Recently got 4.10 gears and the mechanic put Fram 85w140 for the break in process which is 500 miles then i went back and he put the same Fram 85w140 Which is what he uses in all his gear swaps and had never had any problems but with the G80 locker I wanted to go by it's recommendations which is 75w90 Synthetic That's why i drained it and put the Supertech 75w90 Synthetic Gray gear oil at a great price Will definitely be using it again at the next drain and fill Can't go wrong with Supertech 75w90 Synthetic Definitely comparable to higher priced Synthetic 75w90 gear oils without paying double the price SUPERTECH FOR THE WIN 🏆
Changed the gear oil on my trucks front and rear differentials and teplaced with Supertech 75w90 gear oil. Works just as good as OEM and any of the other brands out there for less money. Does the same job for less. That works for me.
I really like Super Tech products for the value. Always great quality American made stuff. This is no different. Great product at a decent price. I recommend
Excellent value and just as good as any other brand. I've used in my Volvo Penta SX lower unit for years and also in Honda Ridgeline transfer cases. Good quality gear oil.
premium product at a discount price!
Great product cheaper than name brands.
At $10.50 per quart this fully synthetic GL-5 gear oil is a good value as most other major brands are north of $15. I am withholding judgment of fitness and durability as this will be the first time for using the SuperTech brand which is refined and bottled by Warren Oil.
The shipping on these were very strange. I ordered six of these and they cam in four different shipments, from different locations, and delivered on different days?!? The packaging was very inconsistent, receiving 2 in one shipment packaged in a bag, 2 in another shipment - not in a bag, and 2 separate shipments with one each - again, one in a bag and one not.
Used in Subaru 5 speed (GL-5 75W-90 is called for). When the temperature is about 45 F (or colder), starting the car and putting it in neutral requires noticeable brakes (or the car will move forward). It also makes an odd noise when the transmission engages in neutral. Shifting in/out of 1st or reverse is very difficult (have to pull harder on the stick to disengage from gears). After driving about 2 to 5 minutes (longer if it's colder) things improved, but still “stiff”. Shifting between other gears was also more difficult. I did a test with heavier oils (80W-90). I put a capful of each on the clean aluminum plate and then tipped it up. The SuperTech 75W-90 is thicker (more viscous) than the heavier oils. I did this test multiple times with the same result. SuperTech also feels thicker and sticky. See photo included. I tested against another 75W-90 lubricant and the super Tech is much thicker. Shaking the Super Tech 75W-90 oil and these other oils in their containers indicates the Super Tech is much thicker. The Super Tech is more like the viscosity of honey. The other oils are like “gear oils I drained the Super Tech from my transmission and differential, then refilled with another 75W-90 lubricant. I can now shift my transmission properly (no sticking in gears, no odd noises, and the car does not move on a cold start in neutral). The Super Tech would be very difficult to use when temperatures get colder. (I've driven my car around 0 degrees F before with no problems). I attempted to contact SuperTech at [email protected] (found this on their web site). The email is not working. I requested follow up using the “contact request” on their website on 21 Dec 2024). As of today (4 Jan 2025), I have not hear from them. Suggest trying another 75w-90 GL-5 Lubricant.
Ordered 5 bottles of 75-90 and one of the bottles was 75-140. I didn't notice until after I put it my differential!!!!!! Come on you had one job! Had to drain and refill with correct. Never again!!!!!
