Dr recommended 3 times a day for diverticulitis. This brand, not anything else. Others are too harsh on your system, cause cramping. Citrucel doesn't. It tastes good too.
Citrucel was recommended to me by my urologist, and it's helped me a great deal. Fiber supplements like Metamucil or psyllium-based products do nothing for me. They fiber alone. Now, the purpose of the large intestine is to remove liquid to solidify the stool. My colon removed so much liquid from my stool that it wouldn't move for days at a time. The cellulose in Citrucel causes the stool to retain more liquid which is exactly what I need to help it move along easily. I have no issues with diarrhea or gas. I'm not “regular” because the amount of fiber in my daily diet (chicken peas, black beans, high fiber bread, veggies) or absence of such intense fiber, respectively, speeds up or slows down how quickly things move. But I became much closer to “regular” than I had ever been, and I've been using it for over 20 years. Along the way, I also added generic Miralax (ex. ClearLax, PureLax). I buy whatever is cheapest. The basic ingredient is the same, and I find no difference between brand and generics. This product speeds up movement. Initially, I tried Miralax alone as suggested by my gastroenterologist. This caused me to have frequent mini-bowel movements all day. It was terrible. The Citrucel and Miralax balance each other for me, and the end result (pardon the pun) is good. Just to be clear, please don't assume this combo will be right for you, and check with your doctor. FYI, I developed a great interest in these products because my grandmother and my mother died of colon cancer. I also started having colonoscopies at an early age, as recommended for those with my family history. Almost every colonoscopy I've had has resulted in the removal of one or more polyps.
I have used this product for years. Tastes good and does not give you gas. Only negatives is it is more expensive than other fiber supplements but I think it is worth it and you have to drink it quickly because it will gel before you finish the glass if you don't. If you have IBS this is the least irritating of the fiber supplements.
I think that by now most people already know that Citrucel works and is gentle on your digestive system. So I won't belabor about it anymore. But I am impressed with how speedy the product is delivered to my door given that this is holiday season -- I ordered it right after Thanksgiving, and in 3 days, it is on my door step.
Excellent actually enjoyable for digestive issues Tastes good easy to use and confident results and comfort
When I talked to my doctor about Metamucil making me feel bloated, he suggested the Citrucel. It works just as well and doesn't give me that awful bloated feeling.
I recently tried Metamucil without success. I don't know why, as I've used Citrucel for several years (at the suggested product by my doctor.) I found the Citrucel to work very well. I won't change again.
Fiber powder works very nicely with little gas. Only issue is that it can be hard to get fully dissolved when mixing.
Caution. may choke if you don't drink enough water. I cannot take this item. If possible I'd like to return item for a refund
this was a substitute and I didn't like it, This is a sugar product and I had ordered a sugar-free Equate brand so you did give me a good substitute.
