What made me decide to try this barbecue sauce? Well, two things, it is sugar-free and low calories. Usually if something is sugar-free with low calories, it's pretty much tasteless. But this barbecue sauce is as good as any that I've ever tried. To me, the taste is perfect, sweet, good consistency, with a very slight bite to it. I used to barbecue chicken on my grill.
i live a healthy lifestyle. and meal prep. i used this sauce in a slow cooker with my shredded chicken breast. i went by the nutrition guide, it still had flavor, but it didn't have the overall "saucy" BBQ sauces but the chicken wasn't dry either.
I started using the G. Hughes products several years ago. Their BBQ sauces are super tasty and guilt-free. I use this flavor for lots of things, including cooking chicken, slow cooking a BBQ chili and making my own easy chipotle BBQ salad dressing. i highly recommend all their products, but this one is my very versatile and delicious favorite.
Delicious and full-flavored! G Hughes Sugar Free Hickory BBQ Sauce has the perfect smoky taste without any sugar. Great on ribs, chicken, or burgers — and fits my low-sugar lifestyle perfectly. Rich flavor and no guilt. Highly recommend!
I TRIED IT THE FIRST TIME AND I LIKED IT MORE THAN THE ONE THAT I ALWAYS USED BEFORE AND IT WAS SO MUCH MORE IN TASTE. I WON'T MENTION THE BRAND I WAS USING AND HAVE USED FOR A LONG TIME BUT ITS A MAJOR SELLER AND IS VERY GOOD ALSO.
I like this product and I also like G Hughes' whole line of these types of low cal products. They do not taste bad at all, yet they have a healthy amount of fat and low/no sugar.
Note... This is NOT a sweet barbecue sauce. It is more a tangy, vinegar based, Carolina style sauce. I highly recommend if you don't want a sugary sweet barbecue.
This flavor is not too spicy (not interested in BBQ sauce that bites back), and is okay on sweetness although I would prefer a little less sugary flavor. Is not thin. Has good viscosity to flow out of the bottle and pour on food. Zero sugar is needed for dieting (I'm on Weight Watchers), but not if the taste suffers. I like the taste of this sauce. I pour it on washed canned pinto beans to snack on an easy zero-point meal. To me, it is almost the same as Baby Ray's honey BBQ sauce, but without the sugar. However, because it uses a sweetener, it can cause intestinal bloating for some consumers. So far, hasn't bothered me. Is definitely higher priced than other BBQ sauces, but others don't come in a sugar-free variety, or those that do are way too runny.
This is okay. I would give it five-stars if it was organic. I usually make my own organic BBQ sauce mixing organic tomato sauce/paste with organic agave and some organic spices, but I have not been able to recreate the hickory smoke flavor well. This is better for me since it does not have agave that can raise the blood sugar. I use this for vegan meat sometimes. I am not totally into BBQ, but maybe once or twice a month I do this. I do not eat potatoes, but this would taste great with boiled potatoes and similar.
No, this is not you grandpa's BBQ sauce. This might be his BBQ sauce with sucralose. The artificial sweetener taste is just way too much for the other flavors. They probably could have skipped it altogether or used half or a quarter of what's in here. If you're used to products with that flavor it might be ok, but as much as i won't eat high fructose corn syrup sauce, this is not a replacement.
