a little hard to open (they come sealed) but otherwise great. been using them to collect compost i fill it in the fridge, then put it in the freezer when it's full, so i can save up a batch to take to the local wormkeeper

Great one gallon bag that compostable completely 12 months after deposed. That is a great news on earth, no longer worry about environment safety any more. Since it was made by compostable material, its color if off white. Great product!

This material is great quality! What a great way to work on saving the planet does little things really do matter. I highly recommend these bags as they are sick and all-around amazing to where I use this bag multiple times. I was able to fit three sandwiches and fruit perfectly if I wanted to put more in there, I could as there's plenty of room.

I love the idea of compostable baggies! And these have a really nice feel to them, a very different feel compared to plastic baggies: it's silky smooth and soft to the touch, and pliant, like very soft rubber. While you can see through it it's not clear, but an opaque yellow like the color of parchment. And the closure seemed to be a higher quality than the plastic baggies; while it took me just a bit longer to seal, it stayed firmly shut [see Photos]. The box indicates that while the baggies are compostable, the packaging is not. It also points-out that NOT all areas have access to a recycling facility which offers “Commercial Composting” which is needed to process this product [see Photo]. So you may want to look into that before spending the extra $. [I gave a few of these to my neighbor, they have their own Composting Machines — I'll update this post in a few weeks to let you know if their home setup WAS able to compost these or not.] It also notes baggies should be used “within 6 months” and they are not to be used in the microwave [see Photo]. Did the storage bags work well? Yes! I only used them in the fridge, though, not for freezing. I highly recommend this product, especially if your recycle facility offers Commercial Composting capabilities.

These bags work just as good as regular plastic. I highly recommend. They seal well and protect freshness the same as a plastic bag. The only downfall is that because they are plant based they don't have a long shelf life. The box recommends using within 6 months of purchase. You also can't see through them so perhaps labeling them will work well.

These compostable storage bags are just the right size for my “Thanks For Coming” crock. I throw all of my compostable scraps into it when I'm cooking, then take the whole thing to the compost bin outside. Of course I don't know yet if they will break down, but I'll know when I go to use the compost. I do love the idea though and hope for good results. They're strong enough for my needs, fit my crock, and save the planet!? A win in my book.

This is an outstanding product! We have used all of these within a few days. It is great that they are compostable. We have a large compost pile that we use for our garden and flowers. We are always growing something and use our compost pile all the time. The more we have for it the better for us. Plus, I like the idea of not using plastic storage bags. We will be buying these! Great product! Highly Recommend!

They are a little expensive, but better than using real plastic

I like the Matter 100%Compostable Gallon Food Storage Bags they seem to be very heavy duty . The bags are a little hard to get open but are easy to close and they definitely seal tight. The thing that I dot care for is that its hard to tell what you have in them because there not see threw. Overall there nice bags.

I like the idea of these compostable gallon food storage bags, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The bags are made out of a softer material, which I do like the feel of. The zipper closure is not as easy to open or close as traditional food storage bags. I was very gentle so the bag didn't tear, but I feel that it easily could rip if you are even slightly rough when you open the bag. If you read the small print on the box, you cannot compost these at home. You have to find a commercial composting facility willing to take them. There is not a facility that services my area, so these bags will end up in the trash anyway. At more than twice the price of a box of regular food storage bags, I do not see myself ever buying these bags.
