I started buying these when I learned how nutritional they are. It's nice to have a few after a meal or in quinoa or oatmeal, etc. Of all the times I've purchased these, only one time was there one with a pit still in it, so you wouldn't want to pop a whole one in your mouth, just in case. Also, of all the times I bought these over the years, only two bags have been on the dry side (but still very edible). The rest have been fresh and moist.
Love the taste though I started eating dates because of IBS. I take Metamucil in the morning and dates in early afternoon. Tried different brands and tried Sunsweet. Its the only brand I buy now but is no longer on Wal-Mart shelves. Looked on line and out of stock.....But found it in a two pack. Don't h know what i'll do if they stop if Wal-Mart quits selling that
Sun sweet Desert Palm pitted dates were a pleasant surprise. They were moist and sweet with no partial pits hidden inside. They are reasonably priced and worth every cent.
Very good and filling and sweet . You only need to eat 1 or 2 at a time. Greatvto add in baking recipes.
i love the Sunsweet Dates. The Madill Walmart doesn't have them anymore, so I ordered them for myself.
I was buying larger quantities of other brands, but they were most often too dry. These seem much fresher than any I have tried.
Not Deglet Noor Anymore, the product description needs to be updated (21MAY2025), it is no longer accurate. Did Sunsweet think we wouldn't notice??? Dates have been a treat my entire life, Never have I ever gotten a prepackaged rotten date. Until now. About every third package you get a rotten date, maybe that's because Sunset has switched to random no-name dates? Sunsweet needs to hire fruit buyers who actually taste the product before Sunsweet Cooperative sticks their name on it. Medjool and Deglet Noor Dates are the best that you can get in the US, Walmart has Deglet Noor dates and the Walmart brand is better. Especially, better than these randomly rotten no-name things.
I enjoy dates as a snack and have always purchased them at our local grocery store, always Sunsweet because they're reasonably priced, plump, soft, chewy and delicious. I was curious to try purchasing some from a Walmart vendor, but although the expiration date was a year in advance, the dates were hard and dry and almost crunchy.. Many of them were split in half making them even drier. I may be wrong but sometimes I feel like companies send their grade B products to discount stores and their grade A products to full price stores. However, I am a big fan of shopping at Walmart for many things, and I certainly will continue to be a happy consumer at Walmart.
I really don't like these because most of the dates are large and the skins are very dry. I wish that the dates were smaller and moister. I ended up throwing the 2 bags I got away. Nothing was salvageable.
did not open. grossly overpriced by outside vendor. 3x normal price. cancelled right away but they claimed it was already being packaged. what a ripoff.
