I would highly recommend this crystal growing kit. My son was able to grow up to 7 crystals in different colors (red, blue, glow in the dark etc.) with ease. If the instructions are followed carefully you can see the crystal grow overnight. We really enjoyed doing these together and admiring the finished product. They also come with little display cases. Overall, I'd reccomend.
My daughter and I had fun with this STEAM Deluxe Crystal Growing Combo Science Kit. I made sure to follow the directions which were easy and detailed. My daughter and I decided to do two medium size crystals. I boiled the water and poured the crystal mixture in. We stirred the mixture and let it set as the directions indicated. Then with the measuring stirring spoon I used one part blue and one part white seeding mixture for one crystal and the other I used one part red and white seeding mixture. After 5 hours we noticed the mixture setting and a few hours later getting more formation. It's fun for my daughter and I to keep checking on the changes and hopefully after a day or two more of a bigger solid crystal formation will be seen. Can't wait to try the glow in the dark crystal next!
This set is so neat! While it's intended for people over 10 years old, I let my almost-six-year-old grow a few crystals (with my assistance). He had a blast! He really enjoys projects where he can grow things, so this was right up his alley. The look on his face each time he saw growth was just priceless. Growing all of the crystals at once might be a little bit overwhelming for younger people, so I would recommend choosing one or two to start. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this kit to anyone who wants something fun to do.
We were looking for another science set to play with when I received this crystal making set as an offer. This is a great science and math set to help your child develop not self confidence but their math and science skills. Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully because you'll end up with an alien-looking blob instead of a beautiful crystal if you don't. Very lovely crystals to sit on a desk, bookshelf, window sill, etc.! Highly recommend this crystal growing set!
I received the Steam Crystal Science Kit. This kit contains ingredients for making Crystal Geodes, Glow in the dark crystals and flower shaped crystals. I will note this kit says ages 10 and up. However I did together with my 9 year old and it was okay. I think the danger are the chemicals are smaller children, but I have nitrile gloves already in my house so I felt confident that my child could do this experiment as long as I was helping. I think the biggest downfall to this is it really takes a long time. I suggest doing it in stages. Get all the stuff laid out and be sure to protect your table and clothes, because the colors in these have a tendency to stain. I first have them get the work station ready and then let the water come to the right temp. So this would be good for a day where you have multiple times during the day to work on this. The end result is good! However it takes at least 15 hours to see some of the crystals take place, they also will keep growing if you leave it in there longer. So this project would be good for the child who loves the science and technology which my daughter loves it. I like that there are multiple crystals in here and we did a few at a time to see how they each grow in different ways!
I received this product from the Spark Reviewer program. This is such a fun learning activity. I would suggest doing this on a table. There are a lot of pieces and parts. It has over ten crystals. It takes patience for these activities because it can take up to ten days for them to form. It's a great activity to spend with your kids while they have fun and learn.
I decided to get this STEAM crystal science kit because I believe that when kids learn hands on it helps them to be more interested and helps them understand better. This kit is great it has all you need, you just need to follow instructions and be patient. Definitely for older kids and or kids that can understand time.
This is a good science project for teens or even for adults. An adult supervision is required as to grow the crystals one needs to be in contact with chemicals so I consider this set for bigger kids or teenagers (this is recommended for 10+ years old children). With the material contained in the set you can grow up to 10 crystals in a variety of colors and textures. We are still growing one of our crystals that needs 7 days to be completed. My kids enjoyed the process but we worked very carefully, being aware that we were handling chemicals. We look forward to use this set to grow all 10 crystals and then display them in the cute cases provided in the set!
This crystal set needs 100% adult supervision and help as all steps require boiling water. It's very neat watching the crystals form (which takes 5 to 7 days) but again an adult has to do all steps and the kids are basically just waiting around to watch. Instructions are complicated. It took me and my teenager reading them it seemed like hundred times and then we still weren't sure we made the mixes right. The ages recommended are for ten and up, I agree and would not get this for any kid less than what they recommend.
I have 4 kids, but only my 2 oldest kids are currently old enough to be in school. I chose this product to give them an activity to do over their winter break from school and they both truly enjoyed getting to watch their crystals grow. This science kit was rather simple to do, but make sure you read over the instructions really good before you just jump into it. My kids are super impatient whenever it comes to reading through the instructions, so I had to hold off on doing this an additional day just so I could read over everything and understand how to safely handle everything with them. This kit comes with everything you need to make 10 crystals, including growing your very own geodes. I was surprised with how many items it actually came with. Unfortunately, my box did not contain any of the color packs, so all of my crystals had to be grown as clear/white which my kids were quite disappointed about. Also, I recommend you not to move these at all for the week it takes them to grow. For the first 2 days, my crystals were growing good. Then, it is like they just stopped. The only thing that changed is me taking them down to show my kids how much they had grown. I'm not sure if the slight movement caused them to stop growing or what the case is, but it was disappointing showing the kids on the 2nd day and not getting any further results after waiting a week or more. Overall, I think this is a neat activity, but I guess I expected more of a result, especially with how quickly they started out growing in the first 2 days. I think this product could be better. The product should contain all that is stated & my box was missing the items to make the crystals a certain color, which is one of the main things my kids were looking forward to. I would not recommend this product to others due to the issues I had.
