I had never used canned pasta sauce for any of my Italian dishes before, but a friend who runs a soup kitchen had a bunch left over one month and gave them to me for a church supper. I used 12 cans plus 8 lb of Italian sausage and 7 lb of pasta and 6 lbs of cheese. I didn't even have to season it! It was perfect and everyone STILL talks about that baked pasta dish! I use it for all of my baked pastas now.
The garlic and herb sauce has a smooth texture and tastes great. My child will not eat any other kind. I enjoy it too. It's also a great price. She keeps several in her dorm room for when she doesn't feel like going to the dining hall, and I keep several in my cabinet at all times.
Great taste for less in price!! Try it in Rigatoni. Brown ground beef, drain, add spaghetti sauce and seasonings . Boil and drain noodles, add to meat sauce. In separate bowl mix two heaping tablespoons of sour cream and one container of flavored cream cheese (garlic, chives, onion etc…). Layer meat sauce with cheese mixture and mozzarella cheese ending with sauce on top. Bake till it bubbles. Add mozzarella to on top, melt. DINNER IS SERVED!!!
will always be my number one fav, the go-to, golden standard for me. it's perfect, and it works as a base for so many things outside of just being a pasta sauce. you can add to it to your heart's content, but leaving it as-is is great too. you just can't go wrong with it. it's a shame it went up in price so much, but it's still considered cheap. I'd pick this over that rao's stuff any day.
This is a delicious sauce for spaghetti; I use it for one pot spaghetti; two pounds meat, two cans sauce and one can water. One pound of dry pasta. Make sure pasta is submerged and cover. Do not stir until pasta is almost done. Then season to taste and add cheese!
No sense in buying high priced spaghetti sauce. Throw in some seasonings and this is just as good for half the price. I have to save money where I can and this is a money saver for weekday meals.
I picked up a couple of these so I could go ahead and make spaghetti and throw it in the freezer and we can have anytime it's already cooked doesn't have to heat up my kitchen throw some meatballs in it make a salad and we have got dinner
I love this brand, and it is the only one I ever buy. That and with some veggies that I put in and some great value turkey meatballs it's delicious. Would recommend it to anybody that wants a quick meal.
I am going to be honest, This sauce is nothing short of just plain watery sauce. We tried several others from Hunts (canned) and they all seem to be runny, watery and not much in taste or texture. Even on a budget, just go for something better. IMO this sauce needs to be thicker with more flavor and the texture is off.
Very Salty. If you are watching your sodium intake this may not be the tomato sauce to choose. I have cut out salt, so this tasted extremely salty to me.
