great for household use

Rick2005 August 21, 2014

I am really impressed. It shredded a pile of old tax info that was 12 inches high in one evening. I fed it two sheets at a time not the 6 that it said it would do. As it stated, I fed sheets for about 10 minutes and let it cool down for 10-15 minutes. I am very happy and would certainly recommend this to anyone. I feel it is a really wonderful household unit especially for the price.

Compact low-cost cross-cut shredder for home use

SJerseyGuy October 24, 2014

I have to agree with the majority of reviews on this one. It is a great little cross-cut shredder with sufficient indicator lights and smart safety features. The design and build quality is very good. To have it priced at about $25 makes it an exceptional value in my mind. As far as noise output when shredding, I was pleasantly surprised as I found it to be a bit quieter and less annoying than previous home shredders I have used. You should browse through the instruction manual to understand how the safety features operate and the typical design limitations such as the 6-sheet max, avoid adhesives and plastics (credit cards in the designated slot are OK), etc. Also don't forget to lubricate once in awhile as the instruction manual recommends. I use just a teaspoon (if that) of cooking oil spread across one of my "to be shredded" documents (financial junk mail for instance) and feed it to my shredder once a month. No need to buy those expensive lubricating sheets. : )

It's great!

Anglik February 26, 2017

We have our mini office at home and we are going through important and confidential paperwork. This was very handy to get rid of all those papers. Works amazing, still give it time in between papers or hard things like credit cards or CD's but otherwise works great.

Directions are great.

Beanz August 31, 2016

Works as intended. It's for personal use. Fits perfectly in my home office. Does not take up too much space. If you have a garbage bag worth of papers to shread it will do the job, but it will need time to rest because it's not designed to work that hard, all at one time (I was just pushing it to the limit to see how far I could push it). But once it rest for a bit & the light changes you can get back to shredding. I got a paper jam, & I followed the instructions (easy to read) to use shreader oil or olive oil to Drip onto the jam & let it sit for 30 minutes and it working good as new. I like it and the price cant be beat. Deff worth the money. I haven't gotten a paper jam since. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I use a plastic bag to line the inside to make it easy to trash the shreadings. If you are the recycling type, you can line it with a paper bag instead.

Good Home Office Schredder

MsNativeAmerican January 6, 2014

I purchased this shredder to replace my old Aurora brand shredder which provided excellent service for over nine years. It would have probably lasted longer if I had not tried to shred all three years of old tax documents in one afternoon... We have owned this new Aurora shredder for less than a month and basically use it almost daily to shred documents and bill statements. I have noticed with this new shredder that it does not shred the paper as fine as my older model, in addition, it does not have the nice 'swing lift handle' on top to easily remove the shredding mechanism off the bin in order to dump the contents. This is definitely an item for low to moderate usage. Overall, I am pleased with its service; just be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines of shredding no more than six sheets at a time or one credit card!

Great shredder

Grannyleigh11 September 25, 2013

I was going to purchase another pricey shredder when mine died. I read the reviews on this one and couldn't believe the good reviews for such a reasonably priced shredder. When this was delivered, I was blown away. It was smaller than I expected, but believe me it works fantastically. I love the way the opening is, much easier to push papers into machine. This shredder works faster and cleaner than my expensive one that I have upstairs. I have an office in the garage and this shredder now sits on a short TV stand and is right there to shred all the junk mail and envelopes. I also love that you can snap down the cover over the opening. I really love this machine and am so glad I decided to save a lot of money. Even though the basket is not large, it is very easy to empty.....especially if you use a grocery bag to line it. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone, you won't be disappointed.

Light Use

PetLover August 15, 2016

Check to make sure the paper shredder wasn't used before. I found paper in the shredder after I brought it home - I had to bring it back to get a new one. I did purchase the 2 year warranty (it wasn't too expensive) in case it breaks from me not maintaining it correctly or from poor workmanship. After saying all this, I have to say that the shredder is average. It is nothing spectacular, like ones that cost upwards of $100. There is a cover to protect people from hurting themselves, which makes it more difficult to shred the paper - it has to go in at an angle instead of straight from the top. I shredded continuously for about 15-20 seconds and I started smelling an acrid smell, so now I give it a couple of second break before putting in the next thing. It says it can take up to 6 pieces of paper but the most I did was 4 pieces thick and that was a bit taxing on the machine. lt doesn't have continuous shredding - I don't know if they make shredders with that setting anymore - it has auto, off, and reverse settings. It's a simple paper shredder - pretty good for the price I paid.

for light home use

cabledave October 23, 2013

this is for maybe 4 papers at a time a few times or it heats up and shuts down, I was cleaning out the old taxes and stuff and ran 4 pages and it struggled but did it and after about 10 minutes it shut down to cool down. but one page at a time it was great and ate the old credit cards that I wanted rid of

Not a durable product

WLMTr January 13, 2013

6-Sheet Crosscut Shredder is too aggressive on the features advertised. I only recommend you to use 3 sheets or less at a time. Give the machine time to breath after each time you use it (up to 30 seconds). Otherwise, it will not last you long. Forget about the credit cards, paper clips, and other things it advertised the shredder can do. You do as advertised, you will be on the market for a new one shortly. I bought mine and had to return it within a week after my first trial. It had a malfunction after I use it only two times.

Not sure what happened

NELDAV March 15, 2013

I would love to give this product a great review but on the first day of use...now it's not working. I started shredding paperwork, emptied it twice then it just stopped working. It turns on, it'll spin in the reverse mode but it won't shred anymore paper. The indicator light goes on but that's it. I just haven't found the time to take it back to the store. I'll make time this weekend.
