These great value brand dried light red kidney beans are just as good as the name brand for less. I use them for my homemade chili and red beans and rice. Excellent quality for a great price ! I love knowing what it is in my food that my family and I eat! Definitely recommend!
I grabbed these dry red kidney beans for the first time just to test them out, and I was honestly shocked at how much you get compared to a can. After soaking and cooking them, that little 1 lb bag turned into a whole pot of beans. I got five or six full burrito meals for a family of four out of just one bag. Not bad for something that costs next to nothing. And making them was way easier than I thought. I soaked them overnight, then in the morning just tossed them on a simmer and bam—done. Barely any work at all. I felt like I cheated the system. They cooked great too—no hard beans, no mush, just good, solid beans. For the price and the amount of food you get, it's honestly a steal. Bottom line: cheap, easy, and practically turns into a week's worth of meals. One bag turned my kitchen into a full-on burrito operation with almost zero effort.
I bought these beans as prices were starting to rise seeing them as an alternative to canned goods that were already priced through the roof. These were the best beans to purchase due to affordability, texture, and value for price. There are so many food dishes you can throw these in instead of having canned goods . I have made some really great burritos, canned them myself so they're pre-ready for meals and also use them in curries (Rajma), soups (Minestrone, Taco Soup), and stews, salads (pasta, mixed bean), as a base for burgers and dips, in baked dishes like stuffed peppers, or simply served with rice for a classic meal like Red Beans and Rice. They hold their shape well and store really well on the shelf as they don't take out much room. I highly recommend them, especially when times are tough .
It is wonderful that Great Value offers such a great variety of dried bean and pea products. They are very nutritious. The instructions on the package are easily understood and make preparation easy. I like to make a pound bag and use it throughout the week in salads, to make dips, burgers, as a main course. They are really versatile. They are shelf stable and they can even be planted in the garden.
stay firm even if you slow cook in crock pot over night,I had outher brands that turn to mushy however this is a good brand and the beans are soft inside yet firm on the shells makes good chillies has the right amount of both textures very good product for homemade chillies.
I'm loving these light red Kidney beans! They're unbelievably creamy and delicious – seriously, a total taste sensation. I'm already planning on making a big pot for the family soon. They're going to be a huge hit, I can tell!
I think I picked up a good bag I didn't have only five bad ones in there out of the whole bag and that's pretty good and they were really good when I cook them up thank you we'll buy again sometime
Great kidney beans for chili! I use these to make chili in my slow cooker and they always turn out fantastic. Always good to rinse them and give them a good soak.
For years, I wanted someone else to do the bean-work" for me. I didn't want to clean' em, soak 'em, or work with dried beans. I had watched my grandmother, mother, and various aunts exchange bean recipes at family gatherings and what have you. Now granted, these homemade beans in any form beat the canned ones hands down. But the cans were just so much easier...right? Well, when I retired, I thought I'd confront my 'bean issue' front and center. Turns out they really are a lot of fun to make. You have complete control over what you want the flavor to be. Like it or not, these homemade beans are extremely healthy (I hate when that happens). So enjoy preparing them and eating them, just go easy on the sodium, folks.
I was soaking some today (2/7/26) to make stuffed peppers with them in the filling, and found a dead bug in them. I don't have a bug issue at my place, so seeing this was unsettling
