very sturdy and solid wood. well worth the price. I use it to sew on every day, as I did not want a big bulky desk to sew on , nor did I want something made out of particle board that I had to be worried about falling apart. It took me a good 3-4 hours to put it together following the instructions, step by step. I like the fact that it is a drop leaf on one end and not a fold over type of table. Less chance of you slamming your fingers or dropping the top down. One suggestion: use short wood screws instead of the tiny one that they give you to put the hinges and sides on with.
This table is all wood. The quality was good. You have to be careful to use the correct size screws for each step. I use the wrong screws in one of the early steps and had to dig into my own screws. That wasn't a big problem for me but you have to be careful. The only other thing is putting the 7 drawers together got a little tedious. I still finished in one day. My wife loves it.
We bought this Sewing Table to use in a small space. First, I was pleased with the quality of the components, it is solid wood and well-made. The instructions were very clear, if complicated. I'm a 78 year old woman but I can handle a hammer and screwdriver. That's all it takes to put it together. Only one place in the instruction process had room for improvement and that was in the assembly of the drawers; they needed to have the holes pre-drilled. like the rest of the cabinet. And don't use all the small nails in the back panel as instructed. You will need 14 saved out to secure the drawer bottoms. Other than that, we are very pleased. It fits in a small space and the gate leg attachment is perfect to open up for sewing. I highly recommend this product.
It is a pain to put together and it's a little stiff but otherwise completely worth it. I would say if you have been sewing for years and you need a lot of storage it might not be for you.
Looks great and is really nice quality - solid wood! The ONLY reason it is not getting 5 stars is because it was an absolute pain to put together and took hours.
I love love love my new sewing table! The smell of real wood ohhhhhh! Only problem preventing a 5 star, the plastic piece that the drawer slide to 1 was missing ( should be 8) thus preventing me from completing.(see pic) so for now using that open space to my press machine Other than that it's a sturdy, solid, beautiful piece for my craft room
Like others have said it takes awhile to put together, the dowels vary in size, no pre drilled holes, the wood splits easily . Directions say not to use a drill but after splitting the drawers trying to screw the screws in, I did make pilot holes and use the drill very slowly. Also, heaven forbid they should provide extra nails. All in all a pain in the butt to put together. It took me close to 8 hours including going to the local hardware store for more wood nails and wood glue. I would not recommend.
Assembly was generally fine. Yes, like the other reviews said, it would have been nice if the drawers had pre-drilled holes to get the screws started, but I've got a drill and it wasn't a big deal. What *IS* a big deal is that the screws to attach the wood slot under the fold-down part are longer than the wood is deep. They came through the top while tightening. See photos. For what I paid and my intended use it's not worth sending back but it shouldn't have happened.
bottom of draws r partial board. the back is also partial board. all of this cabinet is not sold wood. it wasn't easy to put together either. the side leaf does not go down flush w the side of the cabinet. if new all this I would not have bought it.
This was HORRIBLE to put together. No pilot holes for most of the screws. Very difficult to line up the pieces. It might be real wood but the edges are so rough that they splinter everywhere. Thankfully I got black so I could touch up the edges with a sharpie. All the edges were rough and had splintering. The drawer pieces are all rough too. Had to sand the edges that will be facing in so I would snag anything I put in there in the future. Did not send enough nails for the backing and for the drawer bottoms. Would not recommend this item or this brand to anyone. I should have waited for an Alex drawer unit from Ikea, but I wanted something sooner. So disappointed.
