I grabbed two Arlo Essential Outdoor Cameras from Walmart for just $29 each — one for my front yard and one for the backyard — and I'm genuinely impressed! Installation was super easy and setup took just minutes. Even though I'm a hardcore Apple user and heavily invested in the HomeKit ecosystem, I found Apple's options too limited and way overpriced. While these Arlo cameras don't support HomeKit, I decided to try the Arlo app — and honestly, it works flawlessly. The app is smooth, notifications are quick, and the video quality is clear day and night. For the price, these cameras are a no-brainer. Highly recommended, especially if you want solid performance without the Apple price tag.
Not as described. First thing shown when ordering under description is micro SD. This is deceiving because you then assume it has a microSD port you could record onto, it does not have an external port. So you have to get the subscription for any recording benefit and just too pricey for the subscription as cheapest option was $15 a month.
They Arlo company said the cat after a couple years the cameras were outdated. I would not support the cameras through the app so we could not use the cameras at all even though there outdated supposedly it should still we should still be able to use the cameras, but they do not allow that that's why I would not recommend Arlo cameras.
Everything was great during the trial, easy instal, picture is great, easy to use but didn't know that after thr trial you can no longer record, download and save like many other cameras. They force you to pay a monthly fee to record. I should have stuck with okam, anran or icam365. Live and learn I guess. If you just want to view its ok.
if you don't have the subscription these cameras don't work don't fall for it they're too expensive and the company likes to rip you off on the monthly deal instead of being 1099 they want 26 and if you have more than one camera they rip you off overcharge you every month per camera
I was contacted by someone from Arlo wanting $79.98 to set the app on my phone. While I was declining the cost, my Bank Security notified me there was Fraud happening on my bank account. The supposedly Arlo rep quickly hung up and I contacted my bank security %26 5 purchases were attempted from my bank account. I returned the camera.
I don't know how people are leaving positive reviews. I bought this camera for safety and security (like most people) and I pay the outrageous monthly subscription. However, I get constant notifications of motion and no video. Multiple times I've went in front of the camera myself and got a notification and no footage. I'm on day 4 of notifications and no recordings. Don't bother talking to support because they will send you in circles doing dumb stuff like deleting activity zones, restarting the camera and other things that anyone with a brain has already done. It's clear support has no idea what they're doing. I'm looking forward to the waste of time comment I will get from support through this review. I don't want apologies. I want my money back. Do not buy this product.
I can't get it to work. I'll try to set it up and just keeps coming back can't find camera. why did they make it so difficult? this is not the first camera I have purchased. but none of them worked either. not sure why you can't just turn them on install app and they work. this will be going back. once again a waste of my time
These cameras (2) were purchased from Walmart online (regrettably) based on misleading information contained in an article published by CNET during prime week 2025. The referenced article mentioned local recording via ST card, but upon receipt these cameras have no slot for SD cards. Subsequent research reveals that Arlo cameras no longer allow local recording and require an expensive cloud subscription in order to obtain any of the mentioned features other than live view. I was very confident with placing his order based on Walmart's reputation and name however I see now that I have to subject Walmart to the same scrutiny as with other online merchants. I now have two brand-new worthless cameras that I cannot return or trade-in. Thanks Walmart for the experience and validation that you to require deep scrutiny prior to any purchase.
Do not purchase this camera unless you want to pay $24.99 PER MONTH to access anything you want to see, including live video. My camera but I can't access it unless I want to pay that exorbitant fee. Walmart doesn't tell you that either when they give you a nice shortened time to return it. Now I have two worthless cameras. Thanks Arlo and Walmart
