I mainly use this lard for making soap and it works very well for that. I also will use this lard for cooking...making refried beans, tortillas, etc. I don't think the taste is near as good as using tallow, but it is what a lot of people use for traditional Mexican dishes. I do like using this lard outside on a flat top grill. I find that using a lot of lard indoors and having it smoke is a bad smell, so I do prefer it used outdoors. Overall a good product that gives good, consistent results and is a good price point.
The taste is pure and clean. It is shelf stable....important to me. Many people think animal fats are unhealthy thanks to propaganda. those fats are the closest to our own, easier to digest, healthier for us. Let me say in moderation most healthy foods are good for us. I love in baking. Mixed with butter It tastes like my grandmas pie crust. And her crusts were the best. It's also used to top off home canned meats. Gram would make her potato chips with nothing but lard to fry them in. She lived to almost 95. She either rendered her own lard or used Armor brand. Want a suntan? Yep. Lard mixed with aloe and body lotion. Lard IS good for you.
This lard is as good as any I have used in the past. Was my first time using it and everything went smoothly. It tends to get a little stiff if you put it in the refrigerator as I did. It does say does not need refrigerating but I am old school and do not trust leaving it out on a counter. I do recommend it.
Brings back memories when food tasted better without the oily taste of seed oil. It's healthier if not over used. If you're over 50 it will bring back memories.
One ingredient. Works at higher temperature when I fry foods. I use a paper towel %26 thinly wipe to grease pans for roasting potatoes and baking banana bread.
Lord is a very good product to use in crust. It makes them extremely flaky. The price on this item is very reasonable.
I like it. It's a good enough product, but I particularly like the morel snow cap lard better but that's just my opinion for the money. This has been a pretty good product.
I like this product but I will need to find another source. You shipping leaves a lot to be desired. I never received any information of the shipping method other than it would be delivered the next day but I still don't know even who delivered it.
Bought this for soap making but didn't realized it wasnt just lard, that it had stabilizers and other junk in it.
I wanted lard, I got stuff they put in tires. How is there not a giant warning on this tub? I guess I'll find a hazardous waste facility to dispose of this since walmart is terrible at customer service/returns. It's really my fault for trusting a corporation not to try and poison me.
