Armour Lard, 4 lb. Tub

I like to bake my own bread, pound cakes, etc. this lard is delicious.

Okay, don't judge me, I'm Southern, and we take our deep-fried food seriously around here. 😂 For frying, lard is simply hard to beat, and Armour is a staple in my kitchen. It fries beautifully and gives food that wonderful crisp texture and old-fashioned flavor that I just don't get quite the same way with other cooking fats. Whether I'm frying chicken, potatoes, or anything else destined to become gloriously golden and crispy, this is what I reach for. The 4-pound tub is also a convenient size if you actually cook with lard regularly, and the price is reasonable for how much you get. Is deep-fried everything going to win me a health-food award? Probably not. But when I'm going to fry something, I'm going to do it properly. Five very Southern stars from me!

About the size of a typical shortening can. We started our switch to lard because most shortenings have become mostly soy and make lumpy frosting. Lard is far better. Period.

This lard is as good as any I have used in the past. Was my first time using it and everything went smoothly. It tends to get a little stiff if you put it in the refrigerator as I did. It does say does not need refrigerating but I am old school and do not trust leaving it out on a counter. I do recommend it.

The taste is pure and clean. It is shelf stable....important to me. Many people think animal fats are unhealthy thanks to propaganda. those fats are the closest to our own, easier to digest, healthier for us. Let me say in moderation most healthy foods are good for us. I love in baking. Mixed with butter It tastes like my grandmas pie crust. And her crusts were the best. It's also used to top off home canned meats. Gram would make her potato chips with nothing but lard to fry them in. She lived to almost 95. She either rendered her own lard or used Armor brand. Want a suntan? Yep. Lard mixed with aloe and body lotion. Lard IS good for you.

The PERFECT healthy replacement to all those "seed oils" like vegetable, soy, Canola, sunflower, corn, etc.

it's lard it Cooks but the one thing I will say cuz this is my first time I bought this is it has a very almost rancid smell. every time I cook with it everyone is like what is that smell. but my tacos and chips come out. very light colored. It cooks very well.

First time using this brand and I'm not impressed. It gets well but has a heavy aftertaste. I think I will skip purchasing again
