The most delicious Tamales came out with this Masa I Love it!

I wanted the regular Mesa hernia flour, but they were out of it so this is what they replaced it with. At first I did not think I was going to like it cuz it was much coarser than the Mesa in the white bag with the green writing. It's the same company. they're just two different grinds. and I love the really super fine grind on the original. But, not only did the tamales turn out. fantastic, but they had a bite to them. like heavy cornmeal because it is ground a little finer than that but it gave it a texture. I made red tamales with this flour, and I couldn't be happier with the results. if you're wondering what red tamales are pressure cooked some chicken thighs and my instant pot using Mexican seasonings such as chili powders tomato paste and sessan seasonings. once I removed all of the chicken and the vegetables that I had put in to make this red sauce, I then put it through my emulsion blender and pulverized everything in there. after I shredded the chicken I put in some mixed vegetables and a few scoops of the sauce into the chicken. The rest of the sauce I used instead of chicken broth, beef broth or water in the tamale flour, and they were delicioso. 🤌🏼Chefs 💋

This masa brings back many memories of growing up in a San Diego community where families made large quantities of tamales and shared them. The taste is perfect, and the product is tasty.

First time using this brand. I thought that because it was instant all I had to do was add water. If also required baking power. I stilled used it without. My tamales were delicious.

Used to love and use all the time, but they added folic added, which we can't have for health reasons. Folic acid is a man made form of B9 and very poorly absorbed. it can cause health issues in people who poorly absorb synthetic B vitamins, which is around half the population. Please take the folic acid out of the flour, so we can order again. Use methylfolate or folinic instead of folic acid, if you must add B9.

This review is not against the product it is against WALMART. I ordered 5 of these, with THREE of them being EXPIRED or just about to expire. By the time I saw the BEST IF USED BY date it was already too late. The masa tasted fine and I would buy it again, but I will be very leery to order it from WALMART again.

It didn't have folic acid before it use to just be corn treated with hydrated lime and now it also has folic acid. It was the main reason I bought this bag. Very deceptive to customers. It also isn't disclosed on the pictures or ingredient list.

Maybe it was just a bad batch, but either way I was very GROSSED out when I found several small insects inside the flour of the sealed bags!! 🪲🤬👎🏻
