Thus far, I can't find anything negative about the A50 Wireless + Base Station gaming headphones by ASTRO. Set up was simplistic. All I connected to my Xbox via the included usb cable, turned on my Xbox, and it paired immediately. At first I thought I must have not did something because it was very automatic. To be clear, I do have the ASTRO Gaming A50 Wireless + Base Station for XBOX Series Xjs, Xbox One & PC - Black/Gold. The entire presentation of this set is beautiful and would make a wonderful gift for any casual or professional gamer. I am not a professional gamer and I am in my 60's. I am a casual gamer and I did not realize what I was missing by not having quality gaming headphones. The sound is amazing and gives one the feeling of being right there inside the game. If you choose to connect to Xbox you can then go to the troubleshoot area and click on the Gaming Headphones set up.....they are already set up BUT you can go through the information and continue to click 'NEXT' to read more about how the headphones work, volume control, mic, etc. Included in this set is the little folder with diagram for connection. Totally awesome set!
ASTRO Gaming A50 Wireless + Base Station for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & PC - Black/Gold. My grandson has been needing a new headset so this one is working well for him. He likes to chat with his friends on the games and when he is done he doesn't have to do anything but set the headset on the charging base station. The old one he had to have a wire to charge it so this makes it a lot easier for him to charge his headset for the next time he is ready to get online with his Xbox and play & chat with his friends. The headset is very easy to use.
Ground Control To Major Tom... Sweeter than a Tweet. These things rock! I really like them. Wireless is definitely the way to go for gaming. Freedom at last! Their range is good up to 49 feet. When taking a break, just drop them into the base station for charging. The battery lasts up to 15 hours. These headphones/microphones have a great design. They are very comfortable and should prove quite durable. In addition to gaming, these work great for SKYPE and other internet communications.
My first impression of the Astro A50 Wireless Headphones with Base Station ,when it arrived in the mail was the packaging. It came in two boxes with beautiful designs to give you a sense of something awesome. On the box it displayed all the features and diagram of where they were on the headset, inside the package as it was opened everything was well placed and with simple instructions inside. First step was the connection which was simple for my Xbox One X, as the headset comes with its own dock for charging and connection, cords are decently long but I placed it next to my Xbox One X. The dock provides lights and symbols to show battery life and various settings for best performance Once the dock is plugged in everything with the headset is wireless with long range connection to where I was able to leave one part of the house to another. When I placed the headphones on my head, with my experience they're probably the most comfortable set I've worn. The headset has memory foam earpieces and top of head bar is also memory foam. The Astro A50 Wireless Headphones also have 360 degree adjustment with height and rotation is suitable for anyone including children. The microphone in the headset is also a great feature as when you're not wanting to talk you fold it up and it will turn off, and fold down it will turn on, it is placed a good distance from the mouth and it was a clear speech response for me and my friends. Finally, the playing time with the Astro A50 Wireless Headphones was a great experience as I could not hear anything but the games and my friends, with the noise cancelling feature and the crisp sound of the headset speakers, sounds as if you're in the game.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The A50 headset from Astro is, without a doubt, one of the best gaming headsets on the market. From its sleek design to its unmatched audio performance, it's clear that Astro has poured years of innovation into this product. Here's why the A50 is a must-have for any serious gamer
A great Wireless setup with a charging station and a optical hook uo to go with it. To me the optical is the ticket. I used this on my PC A Ryzen 5 3600 with a RTX 2600. It is awesome sound. All the adjustments are on the side and work great with the base station. I can't praise this enough. Windows 10 installed it all in about 30 seconds. Very easy setup.
Very comfortable, well fitting headset. Great sound and the swivel mute mic is very handy. If headset battery is completely drained, it does take a while to fully recharge, but well worth it for the quality. Wireless function has impressive range, so you can comfortable sit across the room from the gaming console and play the games. The charging cradle is sized well, to make it easy to place it anywhere you would like, on the entertainment center.
It's remanufactured, so expect to get what you buy. Mine I had to update firmware a few times and it was a little quirky to get working right. Very rarely I have to disconnect/reconnect power to the base station to get the headset to pair again. The headset looked entirely new, the base station looks like it was salvaged from another pair, just minor scratches down in the slots for the headset. Other than that works great, sounds great, haven't really been able to test range without obstruction, but it will go through 1-2 interior walls before getting some static.
The Astro A-50 wireless gaming headset with matching base station/charging station looks great. The overall design is really cool. The high gloss black and mat black finish with gold accents make this headset beautiful and next gen looking. The headband is a ABS material with a memory foam pillow in the middle. The ear cups have a even softer slight memory foam feel but more spongy. The microphone is made out of a rubberized mat black material that can be twisted and positioned close to the mouth without having to be too close. The controls, power button, dolby button, EQ preset button are snappy and the volume wheel control feels smith with noticable volume levels as you turn. The mic automatically turns on and off by flipping it up and down. The base station is compact in a high gloss black finish with white LED lights on the front and the back has a micro USB power port, USB to Xbox/computer port, 2 optical ports, one in, one out. A mode switch also. The first thing you must do is plug the base station in via USB to a computer and download the Astro software and perform a complete firmware update. Once you have all the updates complete then you can control all of the many sounds this headset is capable of. Included with this kit is a Xbox one Dolby Atmos code card that will give you 2 free years of Xbox Dolby Atmos for headphones. Getting the base station to recognize your Xbox can be a challenge. It seems to want to have to be restarted every time you use it. Astro says they are working on firmware updates to address these issues. The headset once working properly has absolutely incredible sound, the Dolby Atmos really makes you feel as if you're in the game. The sound envelopes everywhere. The headset is rather large, but can be adjusted to fit most any size head. It's big and kind of cumbersome. It's comfortable for my head which is rather large but you have to take them off for a bit every couple of hours. That could be a good thing so you can use the restroom and get a snack. All in all I really like this gaming headset. I feel the company needs to work some bugs out. I would recommend them to true gamers with IT knowledge.
I ordered this brand new, NOT refurbished from Walmart. This is what it looked like when it came out of the packaged. Absolutely scratched and missing the correct cables. Very disappointed with Walmart.
