Thus far, I can't find anything negative about the A50 Wireless + Base Station gaming headphones by ASTRO. Set up was simplistic. All I connected to my Xbox via the included usb cable, turned on my Xbox, and it paired immediately. At first I thought I must have not did something because it was very automatic. To be clear, I do have the ASTRO Gaming A50 Wireless + Base Station for XBOX Series Xjs, Xbox One & PC - Black/Gold. The entire presentation of this set is beautiful and would make a wonderful gift for any casual or professional gamer. I am not a professional gamer and I am in my 60's. I am a casual gamer and I did not realize what I was missing by not having quality gaming headphones. The sound is amazing and gives one the feeling of being right there inside the game. If you choose to connect to Xbox you can then go to the troubleshoot area and click on the Gaming Headphones set up.....they are already set up BUT you can go through the information and continue to click 'NEXT' to read more about how the headphones work, volume control, mic, etc. Included in this set is the little folder with diagram for connection. Totally awesome set!
Ground Control To Major Tom... Sweeter than a Tweet. These things rock! I really like them. Wireless is definitely the way to go for gaming. Freedom at last! Their range is good up to 49 feet. When taking a break, just drop them into the base station for charging. The battery lasts up to 15 hours. These headphones/microphones have a great design. They are very comfortable and should prove quite durable. In addition to gaming, these work great for SKYPE and other internet communications.
A great Wireless setup with a charging station and a optical hook uo to go with it. To me the optical is the ticket. I used this on my PC A Ryzen 5 3600 with a RTX 2600. It is awesome sound. All the adjustments are on the side and work great with the base station. I can't praise this enough. Windows 10 installed it all in about 30 seconds. Very easy setup.
The Astro A50 wireless plus base station for the Xbox is amazing.First of all we are first time users of headphones while playing games so this is truly a whole new experience for us.The sound quality is amazing ,almost sounds like it's reality instead of gaming. The headset is really comfortable ,now I am not used to wearing headsets but I didnt find them to be annoying or heavy. The microphone quality is fairly good no muffled sounds. The headphones needed to be charged about four hours until it was fully charged and I didnt need to recharge them for about fifteen hours. The base itself is very sleek ,the headset and base dont take up alot of space which I like because my tv console is already cluttered. The only issue I had was there are no clear instructions,I really had to look up videos on how to hook the base up.Overall the headset is great and we really enjoyed using it.
As a gamer, its important to have a great set of headphones. The Astro A50 Wireless Headset are really awesome. The sound quality is fantastic. The headset cancels out other distracting noises so you can focus on the game. The features are great. The battery life is great, 15 hours.... love it!!!!I especially like the Flip-to-Mute feature, its way better than rushing to cover the mic as I usually had to with other less quality headsets. All in all I love the headset. I even figured out how to connect it to my PS4, just purchased an adapter for about $25 dollars, well worth it since I now can use my great headset on both my Xbox and PS4.
I got these as a gift for my son, he has an older version and was excited to receive it. He said it has a very good range, the base unit is in center of the house and he can go anywhere within his without losing connection. Long lasting charge. Good sound.
It's remanufactured, so expect to get what you buy. Mine I had to update firmware a few times and it was a little quirky to get working right. Very rarely I have to disconnect/reconnect power to the base station to get the headset to pair again. The headset looked entirely new, the base station looks like it was salvaged from another pair, just minor scratches down in the slots for the headset. Other than that works great, sounds great, haven't really been able to test range without obstruction, but it will go through 1-2 interior walls before getting some static.
The Astro A-50 wireless gaming headset with matching base station/charging station looks great. The overall design is really cool. The high gloss black and mat black finish with gold accents make this headset beautiful and next gen looking. The headband is a ABS material with a memory foam pillow in the middle. The ear cups have a even softer slight memory foam feel but more spongy. The microphone is made out of a rubberized mat black material that can be twisted and positioned close to the mouth without having to be too close. The controls, power button, dolby button, EQ preset button are snappy and the volume wheel control feels smith with noticable volume levels as you turn. The mic automatically turns on and off by flipping it up and down. The base station is compact in a high gloss black finish with white LED lights on the front and the back has a micro USB power port, USB to Xbox/computer port, 2 optical ports, one in, one out. A mode switch also. The first thing you must do is plug the base station in via USB to a computer and download the Astro software and perform a complete firmware update. Once you have all the updates complete then you can control all of the many sounds this headset is capable of. Included with this kit is a Xbox one Dolby Atmos code card that will give you 2 free years of Xbox Dolby Atmos for headphones. Getting the base station to recognize your Xbox can be a challenge. It seems to want to have to be restarted every time you use it. Astro says they are working on firmware updates to address these issues. The headset once working properly has absolutely incredible sound, the Dolby Atmos really makes you feel as if you're in the game. The sound envelopes everywhere. The headset is rather large, but can be adjusted to fit most any size head. It's big and kind of cumbersome. It's comfortable for my head which is rather large but you have to take them off for a bit every couple of hours. That could be a good thing so you can use the restroom and get a snack. All in all I really like this gaming headset. I feel the company needs to work some bugs out. I would recommend them to true gamers with IT knowledge.
I ordered this brand new, NOT refurbished from Walmart. This is what it looked like when it came out of the packaged. Absolutely scratched and missing the correct cables. Very disappointed with Walmart.
IF YOU HAVE SERIES X/S PLEASE READ: They do not tell you anywhere that if you have an Xbox Series X/S that you have to jump through hoops to use this headset, IF you can even get it to work. You'll need your computer, download software onto your computer, plug in your new base station and headset to your computer, upload the software onto the base and headset, and hope it works. Check out the app on the Microsoft store needed for the update and look at the reviews: "Astro Command Center" Hopefully I can get this to work....
