"Ball" is the ONLY brand I will use for pressure canning! I don't take chances that my hard work and food in my jars lose their seal. That's dangerous. Off brands are ok for "dry canning" like putting dry goods into a Mason jar with oxygen absorbers. Summary: Ball/Kerr is the best way to go for a secure seal when canning.
I can't but wonder what is wrong with the individuals who have given this product a bad review, because they believe "plastic" lids are shown. Ball doesn't even make plastic lids with bands. Their plastic lids are all one piece. The package pictured above clearly shows banded lids, and it says on the package, "Bands with Lids". Also the word "silver" appears several times on this page. There is only one error on this page regarding the lid material, and that is in the description where it incorrectly states the Material to be "plastic". Fuming with righteous indignation is hardly appropriate when you bear some of the responsibility for a mistaken order. In addition, to say in your review that the plastic lids are what is shown is false at best, and a lie at worst. Take some responsibility for what you commit write in posts like these. (If by chance, the photographs on this page were once of the the plastic lids, and have since been replaced/corrected, then my comments should be completely disregarded, and commend Walmart for being vigilant.)
Durable, airtight, and perfect for reusing jars. I use these Ball wide mouth lids and rings to renew my old jars, especially the big half-gallon ones I use for raw milk. The quality is excellent — they seal tightly, fit perfectly, and hold up well through repeated use. It’s great knowing I can trust these for both preserving and daily storage. Ball continues to make dependable canning supplies that live up to their name. Helpful Insight: Always check that your jar rims are clean and dry before sealing — it ensures a perfect airtight fit and prevents leaks during storage.
I have used Ball products for many years. Also so did my mother. So does my daughter. Ty fo such great quality of products
I don't can as much any more, but these lids and bands have always been great. Used to buy them 60 and 120 at a time. Now it's just a dozen. But I only want Ball. Reliable.
Would not use any other har lids.
I have used many brands of canning lids and purchased these because they were suppose to be better than most but for the first time they buckled which means the lids creased in a waterbath. So I'm assuming the quality isn't what it use to be. They did fit correctly and they did seal but the reliability of that seal is making me nervous.
There is definitely something wrong with these lids. Some are crooked, some have little dents and for canning this is completely unacceptable. I have never had any issues with Ball products in the past, I’m really angry considering what the consequences could be!!
I want two bushes of apples and needed that product on the day. They said it was going to be delivered so I can make my applesauce on the weekend. Now my apples had to sit there for a whole week till I make them next weekend.
The product is great. The delivery service was the worst I’ve ever encountered. The lids w/ rings weren’t with my delivered order, called Walmart, explained the issue, waited two days, and nothing. Called again, no one picked up the phone. Called again, no answer. Called again, the operator explained there were at least 4people there but nobody would pick up the phone. The operator took my information and hand delivered a note of my issue. Someone finally called me, and said she would deliver the missing item personally. She brought out the wrong item (lids, no bands. I ended up having to go into town and get the myself! Truly dissatisfied with Walmart delivery!!!
