In any at home experience, I can only really compare Uncle Ben's Spanish Rice (UBSR) to the Spanish Rice served at restaurants. That rice is always a toss-up as to whether it's just a bland after-thought, or a great and flavorful accent to the main dish. Uncle Ben's Spanish rice takes a comfortable middle route. Texture and aroma reaches that restaurant high mark, though taste, out of the bag, can be somewhat bland. The thing is, UBSR can always have more spices easily added because having it precooked in a bag saves you time. UBSR can be a bit oily, but, that's OK because even rhat positively contributes to the taste. Overall, if you need Spanish Rice, I'd say Uncle Ben's Spanish Rice should be your "go-to" dish!
I love these rice pouches. Put them in a microwave a couple of minutes or whatever it says on the package. They are great when not wanting to cook or clean dishes. Add some beef or leftover beef fat or both and throw other spices and herbs in of your choosing.
So I got into these Uncle Bens rice packs because they are super easy and heat up in the microwave in 90 seconds, cooked to perfection. I normally would not want to heat rice in plastic, but this product says BPA packaging. I've tried this spanish rice, the cheesy rice and the butter/garlic. This one is by far the best. I bought a can of the corn with poblano and red bell peppers in it, and added to the rice which was delicious and very flavorful,
This Spanish rice with beans is so yummy! It's a good source of protein and it's a healthy. The flavor is robust! The price is right! This rice is a healthy, smart choice for any meal!
My neighbor brought dinner to me, and I asked for her recipe for Spanish rice. LOL, it's instant and you don't even need to measure anything. This is my go-to now.
I was disappointed in Uncle Ben. I followed the directions and I wasn't very happy with the end result. The rice didn't seem like it cooked all the way, even though it was piping hot. It was kind of dry and didn't have much flavor.
I have a hard time justifying the cost since the falvor profile mathches the great value. If they had one that was more authetic hispanic rice I could give it a better rating then this sticky tomoto sauce soaked substitute.
every time I prepare this, for 90 seconds on high in my microwave, it comes out a little more on the mushy side than I prefer. I get a slight metallic taste at the back of my tongue. it doesn't taste "fresh". I'm not a fan of this
Bought for convenience but the clump of rice inside the pouch was rock hard and couldn't be separated before putting in microwave. After heated, the rice was still clumped and tasteless, didn't smell good either. Plus it was twice the price as the Great Value version. Never again.
This used to be a favorite of mine, but something has changed and now it tastes absolutely awful. I thought I might have just had a bad batch, but I bought more when I was visiting a relative in a different state and it was just as terrible. So sad, I really loved this, now I'm throwing it all out.
