I try to keep a supply of these oats around the kitchen all the time. At times I'll have a friend over for breakfast, he almost inevitably goes for the steel cut oats. I think he feels that they are healthier than rolled oats...LOL. Just take longer to cook and are a little chewier than rolled oats. I think the benefits are about the same for them both. Myself, I kind of gravitate towards the Bob's Red Mill Old Fashioned Rolled Oats, they cook up a little faster and I like the creamier texture. Bob's Red Mill Old Fashioned Rolled Oats are really great though. I would recommend them to any oatmeal aficionado... there would be no disappointment.
Delicious!
My husband grew up in rural farm country. He is very picky about his hot cereals. He loves freshly milled cracked wheat hot cereal, and buckwheat pancakes if that tells you anything. So instant oatmeal is absolutely a “no.” This oatmeal seems to pass the “taste good and stay with you till lunch” test, which is high praise indeed for him. I am not a huge fan of hot cereals but the rest of my family seem to really like this one and when my husband asks if I could reorder more, I'm happy too.
I made a pot full this morning for 6 adults, including 3 world class wrestlers. The oats were smooooth. Just add a little fruit, I added homemade applesauce. Outstanding, filling to start our day. Only thing I buy. Great for my heart and helps with our weight loss regime.
I always thought oats were oats. Nothing special, just something to eat to get through the morning. Being gluten intolerant has made me read labels so I thought I would give Bob's a try. Not all oats are gluten free but Bob's are. Wow! I didn't think oatmeal could be so tasty. A quick minute in the microwave, a little brown sugar, sprinkle of cinnamon and perfection in a mug. Texture is amazing and actual flavor. My taste buds and my belly thank you!
Love the creamy, earthy taste of these oats. There are much less husks than other brands. I cook them with 1c water, 1/2c almond milk & 1/2 c oats, little mineral salt. Bring to boil & Cook about 3-4 minutes on low. Cover for about 7 minutes. Oh so creamy & if you add a little (tsp) coconut oil, about a T hot water & your sugar source to taste, you'll see how delicious these oats are.
My husband and I had stopped eating oatmeal because the product we were buying at the grocery had changed so much. When I found Bob's Red Mill site with their wonderful products we were very pleased. We love the oatmeal and would highly recommend it.
I like Bob's Rolled oats. Never sticky! I purchase 2 bags of a favorite -Rolled oats has a great versatility and can replace breadcrumbs fully or partially in cooking and baking. The most popular recipe is meatloaf, but I have made stuffed green bell peppers using oatmeal that was very good, but don't happen to have this recipe anymore. Another recipe I haven't yet tried is a 5 lb. Roast Chicken with stuffing of rolled oats. It is claimed to be kitchen tested. It uses 1 cup of each -diced celery and diced onion, 1/4 c. minced parsley, a med. garlic clove, 1/2 teasp. poultry seasoning or sage, and some chicken bullion pwdr. Optional 3 chopped mushrooms or small can. One cup rolled oats are toasted in a dry skillet on stovetop til golden browned and combined with everything else. Scrape fat and clean with water the interior and stuff the chicken loosely some in the neck and skewer. Bake slow 325 degrees breast side up about 2-1/2 to 3 hours on rack in pan. When done, temp is 180-185 degrees or leg of bird is soft and done. If anybody wants to try it, hope you do and it's a good one. post the results. Thanks.
This is the worst oatmeal I have ever bought! I have tried making overnight oats and regular oatmeal and it's the same result each time. It does not absorb the water or milk and is HARD. It's extremely frustrating and a waste of time and money.
