Brother Genuine Drum Unit, DR420, Yields Up to 12,000 pages

In two days after ordering I received the drum. It arrived in perfect condition. I was worried because I have never replaced a drum but very good instructions came with the package and it only took me about 2 minutes to install it. I looked at several websites and Walmart had the best price for this drum. I knew I could order a non-brand name but had read many articles about drums for printers need to come from the manufacturer. It has the capacity to do over 25,000 pages and the original has lasted 2 years so I think this was the perfect purchase.

I started to buy a new printer for a similar price but was overwhelmed by all the details. Since all that was really wrong was the drum unit, I was happy to find it online.

I odered the wrong thing, thinking this is a drum with toner. It is a drum only. I returned it to the store without any problem, and ordered toner. The drum seemed to be just fine.

Quality product. Disappointing that Walmart no longer carries.

This arrived quickly, which is what I needed. It's pretty expensive but the laser printer won't work without it so I'm kind of forced into paying the price. Sam's was less expensive than the big box office supply stores, though.

The drum does the job it needs to do. It's easy to install and doesn't give me problems. The pickup process at Walmart is another story! I ordered the drums and was told they would be in the store to be picked up 2 days later. I went to the store and they had not yet arrived. Took a good 5 minutes for anyone to notice I was waiting. A lot of people walked by and we meandering about looking like they were doing nothing. I went back 3 days later and they were in. Similar but not quite as lengthy experience. Even though their price was the best, I won't order/pick up from them again. Too much of a hassle and a time suck.

I waited to the last minute to open and install before leaving on vacation so the others in my office would not have to install (they have never done it) and when I opened it, it was an awful mess!!!! I took a pic but only after wiping off most of the mess and then thought to take a pic. The entire top was coated with ink at first opening. I HAD to use it as I was leaving town and wondering if this one will even give me the full usage since so much ink was all over the place. Very disappointed!!

After I installed the drum & toner cartridges, I am getting poor quality copies 90% of the time with faded & blotchy printed areas. I have never had this kind of an issue with Brother products. Need to get a full refund.

I've been a Brother customer for a couple decades, but no longer. The drum unit (which is nothing more than a container for a cartridge, no printer science required) costs three figures and even with a larger cartridge produces disappointingly few copies, each going out of service in a couple weeks.
