terrific little portable scanner. works great for quickly scanning documents for email or other purposes like backup storage. the software is nice as well.
It's small and works well for what I need. This is not a high speed or high-volume scanner. But for occasional jobs it works great. I like that you can add many scan "PDF" files into one file so that you can have many scanned documents in one file if you choose. Saves time and hassle if you are sending info through email. The instructions are a little clunky but that's probably because I'm not a big computer person. I got through it, and I can use it and all the limited features it has.
Sometimes, it scans crooked or says it's jammed. Overall, it is quite good for the price. Easy to use. I'm scanning old and new photos-black/white and color, to my laptop and naming to sort and file. I've been able to scan old Polaroid photos, despite their thickness, by putting pressure on the photo to get it started moving.
I was in a bind, literally 1000 miles from home and office and needed to scan docs. This was the only scanner available immediately that didn't cost several hundred dollars. It's not a super high quality scanner but its been getting the job done for me in the pinch I found myself in. The document feed is a bit finicky. It pulls pages through OK, but the scans often look like the weren't quite squared up. I had to scan some pages a few times to get it right. Also, there were several pieces of software that need to be downloaded and that took a while through the residential network service I was using. However it's getting the job done and it does scan in color so for the price it's tough to fault it too much.
This scanner worked very well, the only thing that could make it better would be an internal USB cable. Since it is portable I have lost my cable. I know it is simple to replace but wouldn't it be great if I did not need to replace it.
The Brother DS-635 is easy to transport and works extremely well. Including a carrying case would make it even more convenient and better protected while in use.
There are a few minute things that kinda bother me. On papers that have very little typing on the top, I have to turn it upside down because it keeps says I scanned a "blank document". At least I'm able to rotate the page and fix it. But I'm still learning what needs to be flipped or not. Another is I have a lot of papers to decide what to scan or not, and sometimes the scanner powers off because I take too long.
More difficult to use than what I thought it would be. I would have rather bought something more expensive than cheaper and this complicated. Really don't even use it cause it's more trouble then it's worth
This failed in allowing me to scan multiple pages. I'm returning this item for a real portable stand alone scanner. I'm a mobile notary and have to be able to scan documents at the table.
Listed as a duplex scanner which it is not. Purchased to scan sports cards but image quality is horrible. Also could not get it to scan cards properly.
