Canyon Bakehouse bread products are a great gluten-free choice. They do not crumble or have holes in them. And they are moist enough to eat without toasting -- which is what most gluten-free bread needs. I am pleased with their entire line of products.
A very delicious, soft loaf od bread. Comes in an intact loaf, just like homemade! i have used 3, other varieties of this brand of gluten free bread for several year %26 found it was the best gluten free bread after trying quite a few. All of their variieties are good, the one I use on a daily basis if the Mountain White %26 if they are out of stock, I get the Country White. The cinnamon raisin is delicious. First time trying the Ancient Grains, I would order it again. The only downside of most of the varieites is that the loaf size is small, making the slices small. The price is pretty high, though it has gone down recently, but not enough considering the size of it.
It's pretty pricy. And very small slices. And when I opened the package and pried out a slice my first thought was 'sandstone'. It's weird and dry BUT....here's the kicker - this bread makes the BEST grilled tuna or cheese sandwiches I have ever had! I buy the ancient grains and will continue to pay the awful price for bitty slices because I can have bread again and the grilled sandwiches are great! I also spread butter on two slices on the outside and put them in the frying pan to brown and then take them out and fill with egg salad. Yum!
I like this bread if you have to eat gluten free, it is not great when compared to fresh baked wheat bread. However I gave it a low quality rating because Walmart oftentimes fills my online order with already expired Canyon Bakehouse Bread! This was the case the last two or three times I ordered it. Expired products, especially bread, should be removed from the shelves and Walmart shoppers should be trained to pay more attention to expiration dates!
If you plan to toast your bread, you might try to find a different gluten-free bread. Has a nice taste and texture, but the big issue I have with it is the size of the slices. They get lost in my toaster, and also some slices are pretty thin. Rarely toasts evenly no matter what I try. Tried to communicate with customer service through their AI, and I got a message that read something like, "We're sorry you got small bread." No follow-up phone call or anything. Well I appreciate their effort, I wish I could find a normal size gluten-free bread with better customer service.
I'm glad my rural WM carries this, as I'm gluten intolerant and need clean whole grain bread, but I'm really disappointed WM quit carrying the Canyon Bakehouse 7 grain variety, which is far superior. I've bought that for years. This Ancient Grain loaf is smaller in slice size for the same price, too small for a decent sandwich honestly… plus too starchy, less flavorful and chewy, and is made with inferior canola oil vs. olive oil in the 7 grain. I'm noticing the 7 grain is getting harder to find in more stores outside of WM now, so I really hope it wasn't discontinued.
Th bread was still good according to the date but as soon as I pulled it out of the bag I saw the mold on the bottom. Before I could even open it. First and last time I'm buying from this company! It's hard to find good quality gluten free bread. Heard good things about this brand from a friend but sadly I'm highly disappointed.
The bread is great but I had my order delivered to the car for pickup. The darn bread they put in my order was expired for THREE WEEKS before they used it to fill my order !! I had to drive an hour round trip to return it PLUS the time I spent standing in line. Are you going to pay my hourly rate and transportation costs to return the bread? Didn’t think so☹️
This small neighborhood Walmart has only been selling this brand past its expiration date the last several times I've tried to buy it. If the workers can't read the tiny date, hire someone who wears glasses. I can't eat gluten bread and there are not a lot of options. Please sell this bread before it expires!
Receiving this bread was a nightmare. It tasted brittle and old, apparently the one I had was expired as well. I got this bread due to not being able to get the other one I ordered, I really thought it was going to be good this time. Maybe I was unlucky and dealt a bad hand, perhaps this bread is good. I won't know though, because I don't know if I want to buy it. Overall, it was a pretty bad experience.
