I was stationed in Bella Napoli for 3 years. I learned they rarely miss when it comes to food. if I am cooking anything that requires tomatoes I go with cento. even when I do chilli, I use these. the flavor is pur. try it, you won't be disappointed.
These are true San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. Nothing like them, sweeter and more flavorful. Walmart has a good price on them too. I don’t use them all the time because of the cost but when I make high end meal they are all I use.! Don’t be fooled by San Marzano STYLE tomatoes grown in the US with San Marzano seeds. The volcanic soil they are grown in makes all the difference
Fresh and bright. Hard to believe anything canned can make such a difference in a recipe. The Centi Marzano (spelling) canned tomatoes will accomplish that. Use the whole skinned tomatoes and then use your hands to break up. This will make a difference you can taste. No matter Italian, Greek, Mexican, whatever including sloppy joes. This is an easy way to beat your sibling at the next get together.
Cento San Marzano tomatoes, pastes, and sauce are the only products I use to make sauce and ragu. The trick is to crush the tomatoes in the can with your hand! It’s that moment of Zen that I look forward to while making spaghetti bolognese. It’s great in stews, soups, and all things Italian.
I won’t use any other tomato in my sauces. Thankfully, Wal Mart in Odessa still carries the San Marzano, because the other stores in town have discontinued them, I now do almost all my shopping at Wal Mart. The do not have an acid taste and you can tell the difference in spaghetti sauce.
San Marzano tomatoes are the only tomatoes I use for sauce- at least once a week. They are sweet and rich in flavor and I use them for sauce, soup, and chili. Irreplaceable. If I don’t have them, I make something else.
I make tomato sauce with these and it is restaurant quality fresh every time. My only cans for this purpose. I put in jars in the refrigerator for a quick meal with any pasta, add meat, mushrooms, artichokes, black olives and diced tomatoes as we fix supper and use these as the base sauce.
Right above Peeled Tomatoes at the bottom? This is what matters when it comes to being real for San Marzano Cento brand. This ensures your getting the right tomatos from italy. It makes all the difference for your sauces. Texture , flavor and consistency. Nothing out there even comes close. One thing I do that is out of the ordinary is make bloody mary's . People wonder why they are so delicious and now you know.
The Certified canned Cento San Marzano are flat out the best quality and taste available for a reasonable price. Occasionally a tomato won't be fully peeled. I can deal with that. If I need tomatoes chopped rather than whole, I pour the amount I need into a bowl and snip snip snip with my scissors (dedicated to cooking only!).
This is my go-to Brand of whole tomatoes when I cook ethnic foods. I keep a can or two in my pantry at all times. The flavor is mild %26 sweet. It is a great value comparatively to other stores prices. Highly recommend this brand of whole tomatoes.
