We love this pesto
This is excellent. I love the taste. For me, I simply put about three tablespoons on a few cups of pasta and mix it in. Add chicken if you'd like, with salt and pepper or cooked with a bit of the sauce. The only downside is that all the ingredients separate in the jar, leading the oil to be on the top and it can easily spill over the side. I fix this by putting a paper towel under the jar before I open it, and putting the spoon directly down in the jar until you hit the bottom, then stirring. It makes less or no mess.
Each summer I make a large batch of basil pesto, but, being February, I have run out. I looked online to compare ingredients of various pesto brands. Mezzetta won out because it contains olive oil, not cheap seed oil. Once I received the product we were pleasantly surprised by the high-quality flavor and texture (mouth feel). I'll still make homemade pesto each summer, but I'll only buy Mezzetta pesto when I run out. Congrats, Mezzetta on a product well done!
This basil pesto is superb, like its cousin Tomato Pesto, also from Mezzetta. A symphony for your taste buds, right out of the jar! If you have this jar plus some leftover cooked pasta in the fridge (or the 60-second microwaveable Ready Pasta from Barilla), you can have dinner on the table in less than two minutes -- and you'll crave it again tomorrow, too. A lovely, fresh taste that leaves your mouth feeling clean and satisfied. Tastes great, eat right out of the jar, and feel fulfilled, too? How wonderful!!! Good for pasta salad, too, or as a spread on sandwiches. A real win.
This shelf-stable pesto means I can always have pesto on hand for a last-minute pasta dish, and Mezzetta always tastes fresh. Excellent basil taste, with good amount of chopped pine nuts and quality olive oil. Read a review of 5 different pestos, and this one was rated among the top. I decided to try it, and I'm glad I did. Thanks to Wal-Mart for delivery on a 3 jar option!
I absolutely am a big fan of pesto. Love to eat this on a ciabatta roll and make a panini. Delish. Great price. Quick delivery. Fantastic blend of my favorite herb-basil and olive oil.
I have tried several different supermarket pesto brands and this is the only one that has a rich, full flavor! I use it on pizza, cheese ravioli, salads and pasta and I'm sure there are plenty of uses I haven't even thought of yet.
This brand has become one of if not my favorite but now is never in stock since the first time I ordered which seems to be the case with A LOT of Walmarts items and getting worse...
Great basil flavor and tasty EVOO, good texture. However, way too much salt. The salt in the cheese would have been enough without the sea salt. I'll have to create a way to doctor it before I can enjoy it. Also, there are more almonds than pine nuts. All I can taste are the almonds. I know almonds are a cheaper price point, but I expected better from an Italian producer.
I disliked the fact that the pesto sauce leaked and got all over the box and the sodas that were in the same box. There was nothing to keep them from bouncing around and breaking. Normally there is foam or the plastic stuff that pops but that wasn't included so I had to throw all the pesto sauce away since I don't know which one leaked because everything is greasy and it stinks horribly, like it was there for a long time.
