Clear, Rust-Oleum Automotive Gloss Acrylic Lacquer Spray Paint-253366, 12 oz

This is not as precision and professional as a proper HVLP paint, with proper equipment, but it is an adequate and ideal alternative for those that can't afford, justify, or house a large compressor, painting area (misting is higher on HVLP), cleaners, and all equipment. The coating is more easily overdone, it can't go on too thick too quickly and run a little… so use sparingly your first few coats… until you get used to spray can type lacquers. However, if you remind yourself to be conservative with the layers, and plan for a few days to finish numerous THIN layers, then this product will do a great job of renewing old rust speckled metals! I used this on my 1982 Suzuki GS1100G, and I plan to get a few more cans so I can repaint the frame next (I tried it first on the triple tree, torque strut, handlebar clamps, and switch assemblies). Coating hardens nearly as durable and smooth as expensive HVLP. I am sure I am being redundant by now… the point is… if you want to repaint slightly rusted lawn/patio furniture or touch up automotive frames…etc… Maybe even try your hand at a DIY spray can paint job on a car or bike… this stuff is a good choice for the final step! P.S. Do not jump straight to paint if the project is larger than touch-up areas… you definitely HAVE to sand/strip the paintable surface, use brake cleaner spray or acetone to prep the surface, etch-prime, and THEN paint… IF you want a long lasting, smoother finished product.

I used it on an exterior solid brass light, and it was excellent. Dries quickly. Follow instructions - not what you might expect. Apply a very light coat then a "wet" coat immediately after. The wet coat may look cloudy. Don't worry it will dry crystal clear. Just don't put it on so thick that is runs. Wait 3 days then polish with a very fine polishing compound to give a silky feel. Also I suggest a coat of car wax for further protection if being used on something to be outside.

I had some paint on my car that had peeled off the trunk. I didn't want to get it completely repainted as it was about 4-5 square inches. I dont know much about cars but I thought I'd try to find any color that could match my bright white enamel.. All I can say is this is GREAT enamel spray paint! On a clear day, I covered the area with small quick taps and ... it was a perfect color of absolute white. It dried quickly without running or splotches. I got a little on the window and it was easily removed. This is a great choice for anyone whether you know about cars or not, and I think just about everyone who buys it will be pleased! No one can tell where the damage was or the spray was applied, and thats the point. It is a whole lot cheaper than a totally new paint job! Highly recommended!

Ordered this product to touch up a rusty spot on the roof of my car. I bought it in black. You almost can't see the spot anymore and it's just as shiny as the rest of the factory paint. Very happy! Purchased a second can to keep in the garage.

First, shipping was fast and efficient. I used the paint to repaint my golf clubs woods. Very happy with the quality and look.

Not quite as I had expected it to turn out. I wanted to cover a recently painted plastic items and was hoping or had expectations this would provide a hard cover over the painted plastic. Sadly it doesn't make a hard shell kind of covering. It seems or feels as if it'll rub off or wear off in a shaft amount of time. I was hoping it would be like the acrylic/lacquers type that matches closely to automotive type top layer. Lesson learned but it's most likely my fault. On the good side, it did spray nicely providing a even coating and didn't cause any bubbles from there being to much of a coating. So not all bad. Oh watch out for the fumes. Says it's usable indoors but I'd not advise that. Heavy odors linger for a good long time. As always use a safe approved mask and glass. Safety first. I do recommend this but perhaps not for covering plastic type items. Other projects might work great, just not for my project.

Like all the other spray cans I've used, there is some orange peel but with sanding, buffing, and approximately 8 to 10 coats it's possible to get a smooth gloss finish.

pretty good stuff and has a high gloss. Painted my tailgate with it. This product has several advantages over rattle can enamel: It dries quicker, sands especially well (won't clog sandpaper or ball up like the other one does), dries harder and can be recoated anytime without worrying about lifting. One downside to it, like most lacquers, is that it goes on more watery and will run quite easily, so you either have to spray with the lightest of coats or place what you're painting in a horizontal position, if possible. It's important to spray this paint in low humidity otherwise the coat will develop a white sheen on the surface.

Either this product is terrible or I received a defective batch, because the paint was flash drying before it could fully 'wet' itself on the surface. It left a very textured and gritty finish, that is not uniform at all. One light tack coat was sprayed followed by medium 'wet' coat 15 minutes later. Weather was 85 degrees with 55% relative humidity. Sprayed from distance of 12" onto a fender treated with Rust-Oleum Self Etching Primer that was sanded 320 grit. For something with a very small surface area this may work, but I would definitely not recommend it for large areas. Now I have to sand off this terrible paint and reapply something higher quality....
