It was a gift for my cousin and she needed it and loves it
It's hurricane season on the gulf coast and this little lantern is perfect for an emergency kit. Just the right size to lug around the house if the power goes out. Not super expensive and it's a trusted name brand. I plan on buying a couple more as soon as I can because you never know when you'll need one!
We recently had our first time camping trip ever. We went tent camping memorail weekend 2013. We needed 2 Lanterns for our tents. One Lantern Lamp was for my mothers tent which is an ozark trail 14x8 for 8 people. The other Lantern for my ozark 17x8 which is 8-9 person tent. I bought the LED Classic Lantern ( the red one) for my tent listed for $19 and bought this green Coleman for moms tent , price I believe was $13 or $16. Bought everything online. The red one Classic LED Camp lantern lighted up my whole tent in the inside it was awesome and even used it to light the outside area of my camping site. This green one is very good also for its purpose. It gives enough light for my moms tent too although not as bright as the red one. But that is why I bought this cheaper version for my mom because she would be alone in her tent and does not need so much square footage iluminated. In my case we were 6 staying in my tent and needed all the areas of my tent iluminated. I think this lantern is great for tent camping or for electricity power off. The way i tried it once I got it was to go inside my bathroom ( which is pretty big) and light up the lantern. It iluminated the bathroom well so I knew it was going to do its purpose for the tent. Now if comparing with the red one of course the red is much more brighter , lights up more area and is better. But it all depends in each ones needs. What i would of liked is that the part where the bulb goes in and reflects to the outide would have been more clear. The Red Lantern you could see through it because its like a crystal ball so the light comes out very bright. In this one it is a milky plastic so the light is not as bright as the red one.
I keep two of these handy for power outages. Bought this one for my neighbor's son. He's 10 and a Boy Scout. As usual, I had a hard time twisting off the bottom to insert the batteries.
Got for my bff for Christmas. We live in the country, and the power often goes out. These shed enough light for us to see in one room, and we can carry from room to room. A bit pricier than other brands, but Coleman has always had a good camping product reputation
It is a nice bright light with two speeds, a low and a high. Very easy to put together with 3 batteries. That is the positive. The negative is that the light has a strong glare when it is on the high setting. But it seems to do an excellent job otherwise. Overall I am very happy with the lantern.
If I set this between the living room and kitchen it lights well enough to do any work needed in both rooms without carrying or moving it. The light is a bluer white than I would like. In an outage when it is dark and freezing cold and you have blankets over the windows, a yellower light would be more cheerful. It definitely works well and you get a lot of hours compared to incandescent. Because of the frosted glass I did not have to worry about getting a migraine if I looked right at it. I had a little trouble getting the bottom off to install the batteries. The second and third time I opened it was easier. It has a very non-skid base so I could set it on the back of the stove if I wanted and it was not going to budge. If you want a plain, good lantern with plenty of light that won't blind you, I recommend it.
The lanterns are good, but the shipping company took no care in the packing of said lanterns, and one the clear lenses on the lanterns was cracked, due to careless packing and handling of my product. There was no packing paper in the carton to keep the items separated or cushioned. Not impressed by their lack of careful handling. Not happy with UPS either.
It would be a 5 star review if it did not come with a fogged shroud which diminishes the already low level light. If was a clear plastic shroud would get more light to use. You wont be able to read by it or do much work that would require your ability to see but for a light to illuminate in a power outage or inside a small tent it will at least make sure you arent in total darkness. Would need two to be able to read or do a function. Really am curious who decided to put a fogged plastic shroud instead of a clear one around this which makes you lose a good 30% of the led bulbs generated light.
It isn't brite. Also, there are no on/off buttons. U have to manually unscrew the bottom to turn off. Then, the 4 D batteries fall out. Some light is better than none but not worth the $22 %26 change.
