I wasn't the person who assembled the smoker, but I was told it was quick and easy, if just a teensy bit finicky to put together. Everything fits flush after assembly. The unit feels sturdy and has a latch to keep the smoker closed while cooking. Although there is a latch, don't carry the smoker by the handle—it's for opening and closing the smoker only.
I wanted something small that I could store inside when not in use. Around here, smokers are huge and can fill up most of a truck bed! This little smoker is just the right size for me. I can cook a dozen chicken wings at a time or six hamburgers. You can easily carry this little smoker with you for an outing. I can see a dating couple going on a picnic where they cooked together with this little smoker.
If you lose electricity, it's important to have a heat source for cooking. I keep a small bag of charcoal on hand for emergencies. Just a reminder: like any smoker, it's not safe to use this smoker inside because of the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. Also, like any other grill, do not clean it with a wire brush because people have been harmed from swallowing metal bristles.
This little smoker is small, but not a toy. For people who want to cook out alone or with a few friends, the size of this smoker is just right.
I would buy this again to give to friends and family. It would make a wonderful house warming gift, especially if you include a little bag of charcoal and a lighter.
