DAC Gunmaster 15" Coated Gun Cable Lock, Fits Most Pistols, Rifles and Shotguns Model 38289

Overall this seems to be a very good cable lock. The extra big cable fits nearly every pistol and rifle. The blue color makes it very easy to see which firearms are locked and which are not. It seems very sturdy. For the price I think it's hard to go wrong. Keep those firearms locked up when you're not using them, especially if you have kids! This is a good way to do that.

This is a 15 inch long cable lock that has some kind of protective coating that is supposed to protect the firearms from incurring damage during installation. The coating gives the cable lock a bright blue color and was packaged very well with an instruction sheet showing how to use it and came with two keys alongside with some important information about the lock. The lock itself has a simple design as well as function and the keys themselves unlock the device smoothly. The cable itself is fairly easy to feed through the chamber and into the magwell for most shotguns, handguns and some rifles. In my case, I was able to use this cable lock to secure my .22 LR rifle. The removal of the cable itself, on the other hand, was a little harder as I had a little trouble removing it from the magwell and chamber and it scraped some of the protective coating off but the lock itself is still functioning and serviceable. The struggle with removing the cable lock had more to do with my .22 LR rifle and less with the cable lock itself. I was unable to get the lock to fit my older model shotgun as it is a single shot break-open action with side lever release, with automatic ejection and does not allow for the cable lock to be fastened securing the firearm. I own several much more expensive brands of cable locks and this Gunmaster lock is as comparable in quality as well as strength. It could be used for gates, bikes and storage cabinets as well are other various miscellaneous uses. Lastly, I have an 8 year old granddaughter so I feel better having this available to help secure my firearms; of course it is suggested and encouraged to also have a gun safe or lock and keep the ammunition stored separately. I would recommend this lock and will most likely buy a few more in the future.
