D'Addario Pro-Winder Guitar Restringing Tool w/ Clipper

By the time you finish changing guitar strings the conventional way, your fingers and nerves are frazzled. Normally one has to hunt up pliers, wire cutters, and wind the strings, very time consuming. This all in one tool takes out the string holders, cuts the wire, and then tightens the strings. I love it.

I was considering buying an electric winder but I don't play as often as I should to really need one. This winder works just fine for the job. It speeds up the winding process by about 5 times, and I don't have to go search for a wire cutter to cut the string once I've finished winding it, as it has the cutter built it. It cut it cleanly. I don't know that I'll ever use the bridge pin puller as I've never needed one before, but it's there if I ever do.

I feel a little embarrassed getting this thing. it comes in very handy if you break a string on your guitar or any other string instrument you are playing. If you tend to break strings frequently I can see a use for it, but for me it's just luxury. If/when you break a string you connect it to the tension screw, unwind the broken string. then you install a new string and wind the tension screw simply by cranking it with the help of this gadget. It's fast and easy. Once the new string is in place, you can now cut off that annoying end string that it sticking out at the end of your guitar. There is a third function on this guitar tool that I still have to figure out how to use. It should be used when you install the new string. I leave it to you to figure out. I will end this review by telling that it is very well make, nice and sturdy. It's made in the USA by D'Addalio. I wish you all the luck performing with your newly stringed guitar, base or whatever string instrument you are playing.

I am a beginner when it comes to guitar. I have always had other people wind the strings for me. This Guitar Pro-Winder was very easy for me to work with. The clipper worked very well and cut with very little effort. The winder easily fit over the pegs, stayed securely in place and wound with ease. As for the bridge pin puller, I struggled just a bit to figure out how to lift them. It didn't take me long to figure it out, less than a minute. Like I said, I have never done this before. This pro winder is very lightweight and fits in the hand comfortably. Overall, I think this is a great product and would definitely recommend!

This was my first time of attempting to string my own guitar from start to finish so I had a friend overseeing the process. The peg puller gave me problems. It worked great for the first two pegs, but after that it was weak and kept sliding over the peg. That was the only issue I had with it. The spinning key winder worked flawlessly. Cutting was easy. This tool cut my stringing time in half, in that respect. I would recommend this tool to friends and family but until they make a fix for the peg puller, keep your butter knife handy (I always used that as my peg puller).

Restringing or replacing a guitar string can be somewhat time consuming and even frustrating. This all-in-one restringing tool has a sniper, bridge pin puller, and fast crank winder to make things go easier... and is compact enough to keep in your pocket. It eliminates the need for at least two other large tools. The "grip" appears awkward but in fact is quite comfortable and allows one to effortlessly spool up the strings. I rated this at 4 stars because I have no idea how well it will hold up, especially the crank handle and the screw that keeps it together. I had to "tune" the screw for the right amount of friction as it was too tight coming from the factory. I don't know how it will wear or hold up after many uses. MADE IN USA! Nice to see!

I GAVE IT TO A DEAR FRIEND WHOM HAS A GUITAR AT FIRST HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS FOR BUT THEN HE. GOOGLE THE ITWM AND NOW HE'S SO GLAD I GAVE IT TO HIM HE SAYS IT A MIRACLE BECAUSE BEFORE HE HAD NO IDEAL WHY HIS MUSIC SOUND AO OFF BIT AFTER USING THE WINDER HIS STRINGS ARE MUCH TIGHTER.

The D'Addario Guitar Pro Winder not Only cuts the strings on your guitar. It's actually a Three in One tool. It shipped in a very timely manner. The packaging it came in was tied securely to a piece of cardboard. The winder did fit the pegs. However, the fit wasn't entirely secure. The peg shifted considerably while trying to wind making it a little difficult to to turn. The bridge pin puller worked perfectly and smoothly, easily pulling all the bridge pins neatly off. The tool itself is Extremely lightweight which is always a bonus. However, when opening the handles to be able to cut the guitar string they stuck together and made it rather difficult to fully open and extend. It did cut through the guitar string, although it did take a little more force then I would have liked it to. It sent the guitar sing flying across my counter. I didn't like the fact that there was a little piece of metal shaving left on the counter after cutting the string. Overall, the Guitar Pro- Winder did do exactly as it claimed. I don't think it would hold up to constant use. However, for occasional use and at it's asking price I believe it's a good deal.

I think the pro winder is good for someone who travels to different places with their instrument. It may be a good thing to keep handy. Especially for cutting the string and winding pegs. I wasnt to impressed with the bridge pin puller. . Definitely a travel gadget to keep handy.

This string winder, cutter and peg puller is disappointing at best. Straying from traditional design, it combines an awkward string winder (leverage and angle are way off), an integrated but separate peg puller (also in an awkward position), and clumsy string cutter (no spring, so two hands are required). I was gonna replace a set of strings with it, but just testing it proved so awkward I simply put it away. Not an improvement at all, and definitely not a winner. Sorry.
