This is the best jigsaw I have owned, and I have owned a few over the years. It felt solid in my hand when I picked it up for the first time, so I knew it was built with quality in mind. Power and the ease of use stands out to me when describing this tool. It sliced through my pine wood pieces like a knife through butter. It is also quieter than previous jigsaws I have own and has less vibration when cutting, too which is very important when making a long cut. The blades are easy to insert and replace though I have not had to replace the original ones that came with the tool.
I've used a lot of jigsaws over the years, and the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Brushless Cordless Jigsaw (DCS334B) easily stands out as one of the best cordless options I've put my hands on. First off — power. The brushless motor delivers consistent performance even under load. Cutting through hardwood, plywood, and even thicker material feels smooth without bogging down. The variable speed trigger (up to 3,200 SPM) gives you precise control whether you're doing detailed curves or fast, straight cuts. The 4-position orbital action is a huge plus. You can dial it down for clean, fine cuts or crank it up when you need aggressive material removal. That flexibility makes it feel like multiple tools in one. What really impressed me is the control and accuracy. The top-handle design feels solid and well-balanced, and the blade tracking stays true — minimal deflection, even on tighter curves. Combined with the bright LED light, it's easy to keep your cut line visible in lower-light conditions. Another standout feature is the tool-free blade change system — quick, secure, and no hassle. Same goes for the bevel adjustments. Everything is designed for efficiency on the job. Battery life (paired with a 20V XR battery) is exactly what you'd expect from DEWALT — dependable and long-lasting. No constant swapping unless you're running it hard all day. Pros: Strong, smooth brushless motor Excellent control with variable speed trigger 4 orbital settings for versatility Bright LED for visibility Tool-free blade changes and adjustments Solid, professional build quality Cons: Sold as tool-only (no battery/charger) Slightly premium price — but justified for the performance Bottom line: If you're serious about woodworking, remodeling, or even DIY projects and want a cordless jigsaw that performs like a corded one, this is it. DEWALT nailed the balance of power, precision, and usability here.
I bought the new model last year and just like my old cordless dewalt jigsaw this one is also one of my most used tools, being a trim carpenter I use this thing so many times throughout the day from cutting skirtboards, notching baseboard, crownmoulding, holes in cabinets etc! Everything from the variable speed for when you need to go slow and the power on full blast this saw is perfect the way the tool is balanced and just goes exactly where you want it to when cutting it what sets this thing apart from all the other brands, my only little complaint about it is the bar in front of the saw blade is kinda in the way but super easy to get used to after you use it for a while. Overall dewalt killed it once again with this one.
I pick this because I have other tools that use the same battery. A jigsaw is a must for cutting curves in a large piece of plywood. I was surprised in the clean cuts and with very little of it out of square.
Like the variable speed trigger although some reviewers say that is a negative. Preferred the barrel handle but not for the extra ~$80. Used it for a project and it worked well.
I have been using the same corded jigsaw for the past 20 years when i decided to upgrade to this 20v xr. This saw gives so much more control in the speed you cut at. Just being able to pick up the saw and start cutting has drastically sped up finishing projects for me. The light is in a great spot and perfectly lights up what you are cutting. With my previous saw i would have to blow away sawdust as i cut to see where i was cutting, this saw blows everything out of the way making following a line incredibly easy. Easily cut through 1/4” steel plate, 2x, and plywood for me so far.
Careful of buying anything in Walmart website, the vendors there sometimes do not take a return thru Walmart stores and need to follow a excruciating process to return anything. Just be aware on the return policy.
I purchased this jig saw from HVAC and TOOLS.Listing said NEW IN BOX but i received a used jig saw from them. The Dewalt box had been re-taped and even had a mailing label on it where it had been sent to a previous customer and returned.I sent them an email thru walmart but never got a reply from them. The saw works but definitely was not new in box!Beware of this seller
I specifically bought this because I wanted to cut an oval at a 45 degree angle(chamfer). I plunged and entered the wood. I am not able to see where i entered the wood in a 45 degree angle angle. At the angle the blade barely gets in less than a quarter inch. I need to cut an oval 1 inch deep. I cannot see where I entered the wood. The second problem is can't see where the cutting path is for a 4( degree cut . I am blindly cutting . . It also chewed into my shoe(DEWALT jigsaw shoe not mine). Did DEWALT really put any thought into it while designing. It feels like they just rushed it through and called it angle cut capable. Not actually tested on a users perspective. Terrible experience cutting 45 degree angle.
The DeWalt Jig Saw stops working every few seconds when run on #7 High Speed. As soon as the blade encounters a little resistance, the saw turns itself off for a few seconds, and then you can resume for a few seconds before it turns off again, making it impossible to be productive. This saw is impossible to use unless your workload is very light. The blade has too much play where it installs and it moves forward while cutting and comes out of the rail track and twist sideways. The other downfall is that you cannot rest this jigsaw on the battery when done using. So the blade has to be removed each time to let it stand up.
