Dremel 100-N/6 Single Speed Rotary Tool Kit with 6 Accessories

I ordered this to replace the Dremel I've had for over 10 years. I bought the same model because it worked well for me, and was a good value. And, in fact the price is practically the same as it was when I bought my first Dremel from Walmart many years ago. But this one came with bonus attachments. I'm an artist, and I use this for sanding sculptures, home repair, and revamping things like furniture.

You can spend more money on one of the higher tier dremels, but when you get down to it, this is the same thing essentially. You don't get the speed control, but you really don't need that. And for the price difference, I decided the luxury wasn't worth it. This will cut through quite a bit of stuff. The motor is very strong. It's great for a beginner or someone who just needs a reliable, cheap, rotary tool. This really does get the job done. The simplicity of only a on and off switch makes it many times more reliable than any other dremel. There is simply less to go wrong. I would highly suggest this to anyone who is looking to buy a tool of this nature.

Works great. Lots of accessories available. I bought a $12 Lutron lamp dimmer to make this a variable speed tool.

I'm using this on foam, but it's incredibly effective and fast. I think it would go through hardier materials with no problem.

I have used dremel for many years in multiple roles... Unless you are using this for a second tool for high speed only, you would do better to spend a little more for a two speed or variable speed. There are too many times when you want to ude a slower speed on your rotary tool....

I go through about 4-5 of these each year. As a shell-carver, I use them for work. This model is the most useful to me. However, I'm so sick to death of the inconsistent quality of Drexel. Maybe 1 in 3 will work exactly as it should when it comes out of the box. The one I just bought is among the other 2/3 — I think, finally, today, I have everything tightened/loosened enough to work at full speed — but I'm pretty sure one of the wires is loose inside. I don't want to open it up yet. I've gotten some that won't turn on; others that last 3 weeks and then meltdown — literally melt — like, smoking plastic. But this is, otherwise, a really useful tool.
