Eagle Claw Gold Hook Fishing Lures for Crappie, Pan Fish & Trout, 10-Count

I purchased this jig head just to try it out. I usually use inexpensive jig heads like the Eagle Claw Ball Head 1/32 and 1/16 oz. for situations where I am a bit more likely to get hung up and break off. I have some more expensive Japanese jig heads that I prefer because of how small and sharp they are, but I really get bummed out when I lose one, so I keep a supply of Eagle Claw Ball Heads for those times where I am more likely to break off. I saw these on the Walmart website while I was looking for the Ball Heads and decided to try them out. They seem to be a bit sharper than the ball heads, but that could be my imagination. They also have a slight bend upwards which I believe is by design to help insure the hook pins the fish. quite an advanced design for this price point. I really thought that I would use them for small swim jigs, but ended up using them for the first time with a 2" Chartreuse Mister Twister Meeny Curly Tail Grub. The jig came through the water well and was the perfect size for the 2" grub. On my brief first outing using this jig head, I ended up catching 4 nice Crappie in a 13 minute time period before the school moved away. As a bank fisherman, there's nothing I can do about that scenario! Thew hooks penetrated well, and I don't really do a "hook set" per se. I just tighten up briskly and keep the pressure on when the rod loads. You will see from the pictures included with this review that the hooks penetrated past the barb without any issues at all. I would highly recommend these jig heads.

For 3 dollars can't complain their diffrent weight ones depending what your fishing for have fun and collect them all

Very well made. Throw on a Gulp minnow or a crappie magnet and these should catch fish. I chose 1/32 oz. and am quite pleased.

The 1/32 oz jig is perfect for light tackle fishing — it sinks slowly, giving crappie and panfish plenty of time to strike. The hook is sharp and the paint holds up well after multiple casts. Great choice for clear, shallow waters.
