Eastsport Unisex MVP Expandable Recycled 19" Backpack, Thistle

Bought for my granddaughter who started 6th grade and roomy enough to hold everything she needs. Pockets on the side are deep enough to hold a taller water bottle.

Even though my kids are in elementary school, they have SO much stuff they have to keep in their backpacks throughout the day switching between rooms. The expandable feature is why I bought the bag. The large pockets for water bottles and the snap closure on the zippers are both major wins in my book. Time will tell how it holds up. I am hoping it is good for multiple years.

They are pricey, but good and sturdy. Last year I bought a different one and it ripped. It was the first time I've ever had one break. But I buy them every year from elementary to high school now. They are a big backpack that has extra space to expand if needed. The bottom is reinforced. The water bottle pocket on the side and it's bigger and insulated this year. Not a ton of pockets but enough and can handle a good amount of weight.

This is a great backpack for kids going back to school! Love the size and will for sure last all school year!

The pockets are amazing and tall! The strapped are padded which is fantastic for all day use and less stress on my shoulders.

I was a little disappointed with this backpack, mainly because of its size. Since it's advertised as an expandable backpack, I expected it to provide noticeably more space than the standard version from the same brand. However, when compared side by side with another Eastport backpack I own that doesn't even have the expansion feature, this one was inches smaller—and honestly, a bit underwhelming. I had hoped it would be large enough to comfortably fit all of my daughter's school supplies and books, but it falls short in that regard. That said, there are still many things I like about this bag. The overall design is sleek and stylish, and the materials feel durable and well made. The zippers in particular stand out—they glide smoothly, don't snag, and seem strong enough to hold up under daily use. The organization of the pockets is also excellent, making it easy to keep items separated and accessible. The water bottle pocket is one of the best I've seen on an Eastport backpack—sturdy, deep enough, and actually practical. Because of these strong design features, I still give this backpack 4 out of 5 stars. It's a quality product with great craftsmanship, but I wish the expandable feature truly delivered more space. If you don't need to carry a heavy load of school books, it's an excellent choice. Otherwise, just be aware that the capacity may not be as generous as expected.

I find the backpack's handle to be too fragile to support the weight of the contents. The handle is made of some kind of rubber or plastic, and feels uncomfortable to the touch.
