I tried to talk her into one of the fancier braces, but she likes this one. She washed the original to death so we replaced it with another. Velcro wears out even without all those cycles in the machine. So I would have grabbed a brace with springs or hinges, but she says this one is comfortable, supportive, and easy to use. Okay, I won't argue with that.
I would rate these approx. low- medium supportive %26 very comfortable. It is not stiff or rigid. Gives me just enough support for movement %26 to be able to bend my knee %26 remind myself not to overdo! Easily hand washed %26 hang to dry. These are my 3rd pair in a few years. I wear them a lot, a few times a week for about 4-6 hours. The Velcro doesn't stick anymore %26 the elasticity in the neoprene material breaks down abit.
I was away with family for the weekend, and usually bring a knee brace just in case, but forgot. I'm in my mid 60s with arthritis. My granddaughter was performing in high school honor choir at a college and after a day of many stairs, plus stairs at our airbnb; one of my knees went out on me. I ordered 2 of these (in case the other went too) to be delivered, and within a couple of hours; I had them! This was a different brace for me (with the inner sleeve), and I have to say it was so much more comfortable! But I've also lost 50 pounds, so may have not been able to wear them previously. The next day; I was able to go without, that's how much it helped!
I would give this Equate adjustable knee brace a 5 star rating because it is nicely made BUT it bunches up in the back of my knee where my knee bends. There are 3 adjustable straps. The middle strap is the strap that bothers me and it makes it uncomfortable. I still wear it when I'm working because it does help. Unfortunately I will be looking for a replacement knee brace that does not have any straps in the middle of the knee brace. It may not bother everyone. I did like the reasonable price. For reference I'm 5'8" and around 160lbs and my knee pain may be arthritis, waiting on Doctor to look at it further.
This does the job for adding support to my knees. The hook part lasts longer than the fabric top of the braces. It would be great if these were modular allowing replacement of the worn out fabric where the hooks latch on to. It isn't legit Velcro. Rather the generic "hook %26 loop" stuff without the loops.
One size does not fit all. Do not recommend if you are short or tall. I am 5'2” and it is not possible to adjust for patient height. On a short person, excess brace bunches up, especially behind the knee, and caused pressure sores after one afternoon of wearing. Tall people will not have enough pressure on the essential area of quadriceps femoris and lower leg biceps, also causing rubbing and pressure wounds. Insurance tells subscribers to “just go to CVS or Walmart” ignoring the fact that in office appliances were once fitted to patient's height and weight. This practice basically ignores 75% of the American population and makes health care a luxury item here.
This knee wrap / bandage stabilizer is well made. However it is too small to use on my knee or my larger legs. I had hoped it had lots of adjustable strap length and could be worn over larger knees and legs. I assume for smaller people this strap brace support would have enough adjustment to give support and not restrict circulation ? Well made but not for larger adults?
What I disliked about this knee brace is that clearly one size does not fit all. Well, it doesn't I am a plus size person and had great difficulty putting this on and in place. First the lil piece of cloth on the inside that you slide your leg through was digging into the back of my knee, secondly the flaps didn't go all the way around to affix to the other side and with assistance it was way too restricting, lastly it kept rolling and bunching behind my knee which was very uncomfortable. I do not recommend this product for plus sized people it's just a hassle.
One size does not fit all. If you are shorter than average, there is too much. When you need a knee brace, this is very difficult to put on and take off. It has an inner sleeve, like I said one size does not fit all. It is very difficult to put on and take off and provides no support. It keeps the knee warm but does not support or compress. I do not recommend. I donated it to Goodwill.
Unfortunately this knee brace fell short . I was hopeful because it doesn't have any plastic parts on it which is necessary for jujutsu. You don't want any type of metal pieces on your braces while grappling. This brace was just bulky and did not sit right. My husband just really struggled with it and didn't even want to give it a second try because it just didn't work for him at all during class making him feel more vulnerable during class because he didn't have the support he needed.. It may work for some, but definitely didn't work for him.
