First and foremost this helped to get rid of my scalp dermatitis. I do not flake when I use this consistently every single day. Yes, it does have a very strong medical smell but if you power through it you will yield great results. I didn't think this would work like it did but I was desperate and needed something on my scalp that wasn't just another dandruff shampoo. The price is well worth the money and I sincerely hope Walmart never stops making this product! I only need it when I have random flares up. I've been dandruff/itch free for a solid 6 months until needing it very recently. A tip I would like to give it to buy the maximum strength as the other one that is offered does not work as well.

I have been using this product ever since the brand name discontinued their line, and I have been completely satisfied. The Equate extra strength coal tar shampoo controls my mild psoriasis and scalp itching, and is lower cost and higher coal tar content than competitors. There is a light fragrance that mostly dissipates as hair dries, something that is very important in my home with multiple fragrance-sensitive members. My only complaint is that it has become difficult to find in store, so I make sure to buy some every time it is available.

As someone whose had psoriasus in my scalp gor years while this shampoo doesn't have thebfreshest scent it does its job. I have had an itchy scalp for years and only discovered this after my dermatologist recommended I use this. Aside from its awkward scent which takes some getting used to it works. Although I had to switch from regular shampoo to T-gel shampoo it has kept my scalp itch and flake free. While the scent may take some time to getzing used to tge product irself has saved me from constant itching and prevented ny scalp from firming rayhes or dry spots

If you have scalp concerns USE THIS. My daughter has terrible dandruff and some scalp psoriasis. Weve used everything from prescription shampoos, head and shoulders, selsun blue, salicylic acid,we even had scalp scraping and treatments done as a scalp specialist. Weve been using the lower dose of this product and it worked really well. Bought this higher percentage because of a flare up of symptoms, and within 2 washes her head is almost clear! It smells like death, but you really get used to it. As long as you rinse it all out, your hair won't hold the smell. I have read you need to be careful in the sunlight and you shouldnt use long term, but it really is our saving grace. I'll never go back to head and shoulders for any of us.

Works as well as a name brand! The main Tar ingredient is what stops the flaky itching scalp! I use it every 3rd or 4th shampoo. My Aussie Conditioner gets rid of the light scent of the shampoo. Nice thickness too!

The shampoo it good helps me control de dandruffs is does goes away and comeback and as soon as I see is coming back I start using tithe equate shampoo again, the only bad thing is the scent smells awful

Every autumn I get a psoriasis flair that always starts on my scalp. Coal tar shampoo is the only thing that works for keeping it under control. I used to use Neutrogena's T-Gel but it was discontinued a couple of years ago. I've tried several brands of coal tar shampoo, and this works as well if not better for a lot lower cost. Of course it smells like a freshly paved parking lot in a July heatwave so I use a highly scented conditioner to cover the coal tar odor.

You must be patient with lathering. Follow the instructions on the box and make sure that you get it in all the way to the scalp and massage there on your scalp (hard or soft) for a few minutes, then wash. It does smell like coconut. Has a slight odor, but (I assume) it's like-medical grade - so this is to be expected. The odor goes away fast. Generous amount for the price when you find it on sale. Use the recommended amount.

Found out my granddaughter had dandruff. Mimi to the rescue!! I decided to go with this product because it has a 4.0% active ingredient whereas everything else had lower. I was not interested in what smells good, I was only interested in what actually works. N this did, immediately! No more itchy, didn't burn the scalp, it sudded up more than I expected. She was surprised that she could still style it w no problems.

This is the foulest smelling therapeutic shampoo I've ever used and is nothing like the name brand. It smells EXACTLY like moth balls and will not come out of your hair. 0 stars if I could. I threw it straight in the trash.
