I've been using this for years and it worked great. About 6 months ago I heard that Gerd is not caused by high acid but not enough. So twice a day I take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar just before I brush my teeth. Haven't needed this product since.
My mom gets really bad heart burn and she couldn't keep anything down. While waiting on prescriptions, we purchased this to help her and it worked immediately. It cleared her scratchy throat and heartburn without making her drowsy. She did not have any complaints of congestion. Since being on this, she has been able to enjoy her food.
I haven't found a cheaper price in my area for this medication. our local pharmacy charges up to $25. Was very relieved when I found these here for a very decent price. Plus, they are just as reliable. Hubby is a spice-a-holic, so this medication is a must!
I have GERD and was originally prescribed prescription strength Omeprazole (40mg), but I've heard that it can be hard on your liver after long time use. So, I started using these instead (20mg) to hopefully reduce any side effects of long term use. I also take "breaks" where I stop taking it until my acid flairs up (NOT MEDICAL ADVICE, I didn't consult my doctors about this, I decided to try it on my own). I haven't noticed any side effects so far (been taking it for 6 years or so). It helps with all my GERD symptoms (acid reflux, horase voice in the mornings, and regurgitation).
I had severe acid reflux for about 2 weeks. This was prescribed by my primary care physician, The medication didn't seem to help during the first 2 weeks. The following weeks it worked while I waited for months before I could be seen by the gastroenterologist. I recommend it.
I've been using this vitamin ready for about four years and it works really good. You don't have the anti acid in especially if you drink it like a half an hour or so before you eat I suggest you buy them. You can't beat it and the price is not bad. I know I will continue mine.
I've tried a few different antacids over the years, but this Equate Omeprazole 20 mg is the one that actually works for me. My heartburn can get pretty stubborn, and this is the only one that has consistently kept it under control. I've used the brand-name version before, and honestly I don't notice any difference in how well this works. It does the same job but costs quite a bit less, which makes it a really good value. I also like that it's just one pill a day during the 14-day treatment, so it's easy to remember and stick with. Overall, I'm really happy with it. If you deal with frequent heartburn and want something that works without paying brand-name prices, this is definitely worth trying.
Sources below, please note these are my own personal experiences and opinions as they pertain specifically to myself Omeprazole is, for me the most effective antacid OTC when taken in advance of eating for managing recurrent and significant gastrointestinal reflux. When taken semi-regularly the symptoms are usually better managed, for longer duration than with other antacids. I take 1-2 at onset of symptoms and then I don’t feel any symptoms for a few days. If I have any, I repeat it. ***However, it is a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) and as such, imo and per direction probably shouldn’t be taken long term in most cases. **Do not store the med for a long period since many medications can become stronger and therefore toxic. This is why Ranitidine was removed from the market along with the nature of its toxicity being present at high levels to be carcinogenic. All antacids should be treated with the same caution, regardless of type and should be researched before taking. Including fast acting, short range antacids such as calcium based brands like tums or rolaids. Calcium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide. Omeprazole may alter the effects of antibiotics according to research, in some types of antibiotics, it may increase the concentrations of the antibiotic in the body (amoxicillin) and in others may reduce them, (metronidazole) this may potentially lead to increased antibiotic resistance or other adverse effects. Please ask your physician. It is NOT the only antacid that does interfere with absorption of antibiotics, as others may as well, such as calcium carbonate antacids. Famotidine is a comparable alternative that is available OTC and is not a PPI, rather it is a H2 blocker which has been claimed to have 2x less risk of causing stomach cancer than PPI. This means it doesn’t work in the same way as omeprazole. Please do your own research and remember "2x less/more" isn’t a scientific calculation that means anything significant or safe. IMO omeprazole is more effective for managing my symptoms, as I have not experienced the stronger recurrence of symptoms after discontinuing the medication as with Famotidine but I alternate with Famotidine, since it is acceptably effective for myself. Please note these are my own opinions and observations about the medications and they don’t necessarily reflect any scientific consensus. They work pretty good for me and the taste is good too. And the price is great for me , when im trying to get rid of some acid reflex. works just as good as te others.
I use the Prescription version of this for GERD and this works just as effectively. It just proves to us that many non-prescribed medications are just as effective, if not better, than some prescription medications.
