Estwing 14in. Sportsman's Axe, Model# E-24A

Purchased hatchet to do a mirage of things around the yard and it has met every challenge. Excellent craftsmanship and it will not disappoint you. Nice leather sheath not to mention the nice leather handle. A must have for the camper or for cutting kindling for the fireplace, or cutting brush around the yard.

I had one of these about 30 years ago, put it in trunk of my car, and the handle rotted. Read the review about sanding the handle down and oiling. This thing looks awesome now, and no more worries about the leather rotting. This is one of the best hatchets out there now.

The quality of the hatchet was very good. I wanted a hatchet with a sheath so I bought this one. I wondered if the handle would be too slick. I've have used it and it doesn't appear to be. The sheath is better than I expected. Other reviews that I read said the edge needed sharpening when they got it but mine appeard okay. I sharpen them when I get them anyway. I painted the metal parts of the handle and the head (not the edge area) brilliant red/orange so it can be found easily. My children have lost or misplaced other hatchets and axes for me.

The last one I had lasted over 20 years until I lost it on a family camping trip. There is no better!! The price is a steal. I personally would highly recommend buying one!!

Quality USA made tool. Only minus I would give is that the non cutting edges need a corner break. Some of the corner/edges are quite sharp, including the round edge of the metal handle cap. I broke the corners on my belt grinder and made it a better tool.

Solid made , will last a lifetime

Handy little hatchet. Love that it's made in USA. I'm sure I'll have this thing for the rest of my life.

Good strong hatchet. Well made and looks nice. Not that sharp when I first got it. The edge was a little jagged and rough . But I did manage to put a good edge on it with a DMT diamond sharpener. Seams like it will last for a while and chop what it needs to chop.

Perfectly balanced once piece solid stainless - head won't loosen from handle - nice weight for heavy use without getting fatigue 4. Non slip leather grip stays in your hand and is long enough for use with two hands 5. Well sharpened/honed from the factory-cuts easily 6. Sheath covers the head of the hatchet leaving the handle ready to grab and go 7. Would buy again and highly recommend to anyone I hope this review helps other consumers make wise choices!

Hatchet arrived promptly. Fairly sharp. One complaint, bought this as a gift mainly because of the leather sheath shown in the website photo. It arrived with a black nylon sheath instead. Really disappointed in that.
