I bought a new battery from Advance Auto parts and it was not fully charged. The battery would loose charge after 3 days. I bought this charger as it has battery recondition function and after a 24hr recondition, I charged the battery for 24hrs. The charger will go into trickle/maintenance charge once the battery is fully charged. Problem solved. Unit is light weight and has a 6' cord. Clamps are sturdy and connect well.
Arrived on time it is easy to use with simple directions charged my battery in under an hour after my car had been sitting for 3 months. A week later the battery is still charged, I haven't had a problem since. Having one of these is a life saver for those unexpected dead battery moments when you least expect it. Cheaper and faster than calling for assistance or when you are parked and unable to get a car close enough for a jump.
Powerful charger with a long power cord and long durable cables with strong secure connection clamps. It delivers a surprisingly strong engine boost starter. After a short 60 second (50 amp) ramp up charge cycle, it started the V8 engine with power to spare. The battery had been totally drained by leaving interior and dome lights on for 6 days. The unit paid for itself with that first use. It then topped off the battery with over amp charge rate. The alternator test is a single push button feature, so I know the charge system is fine now for added peace of mind. It's very light weight with a smart, attractive design. Very easy to transport and to understand how to use. I couldn't be happier.
This is an item always in need here but, old charger Schmacher brand disappered. It was used nearly daily. Looking forward to this charger working as good as old one. Not many useful items seem to have a long life span. Love the longer cords and lighter weight of item. Hope Evermaxx 50 has nearly constant use without issues as Schmacher.
Read the directions before using. Vehicle battery died in the very cold temperatures, so I thought the battery was bad. I purchased replacement battery and the Everstart Maxx 50 Amp Automotive Battery Charger/Maintainer. Before replacing the battery, I used the Everstart Maxx 50 Amp Automotive Battery Charger/Maintainer to charge and check if my existing battery was defective. The Everstart Maxx 50 Amp Automotive Battery Charger/Maintainer charged my battery and verified my battery is in good health. So I returned the battery to the store.
Never needed a charger but need a small one. I didn't like the small clamps but was told they all mostly are like that. I get it now and I could shut my hood with no problem. Used it on a car and a diesel as I live alone. Now I do not have to wait for someone to jump me if I need it.
This charger seems to do the job as advertised, but it defaults to LiFePO4 batteries rather than Acid (typical car) batteries. Following the instructions to switch to acid batteries ... it does not confirm the selection in an obvious way. You kind of have to trust it. Missing is an AGM battery function, just "acid".
I bought this because it advertised it as being able to start a car and that it could test the alternator the only function that actually worked was charging the battery (I have a agm battery and it seemed to charge it pretty fast which is why I gave it a 3) sadly it was not able to start my 6 cylinder Honda and I tried using it to test the alternator but the function never worked
You can't expect much from a charger/starter at this price point. It's made of cheap plastic that feels like it could break any moment. It advertises capability to jumpstart a vehicle. It would not jumpstart mine. STARTER FUNCTION - You have to wait around five minutes for the unit to store the energy needed to turn over your engine. It would not turn my engine over. Then you have to wait around five minutes for it to recover. The charger/starter does not have enough cranking amps for an eight cylinder with high compression. It might work on a small four-cylinder vehicle based on my experience. You could be out there for 30-60 minutes intermittently waiting and trying to start your car. Walmart does not make that clear on their website. CHARGING - It was able to charge my car in very cold weather. Apparently, it has a heater of some kind inside that keeps it from tapping out. My battery was charged full in about 8 hours when it was around 14° F. But I also have a very large deep cycle battery that was at around 11 volts, so the dead was pretty low on the starter/charger. The manual says it takes 18 hours, which i assume is with a dead battery.
When I searched for a portable charger /jumper - this popped up - but until you open the package and read the instructions you realize it does not work unless plugged into a wall outlet. Which did me no good. I'm sure it's great if you don't live in an apt or are not on the side of the road
