I bought this new Fellowes Powershred 79Ci 100% Jam Proof Cross-Cut Shredder for home use. I had a Fellowes Shredder for at least 12 years that did not have all the shred options that this new one has! It is powerful, easy to use , shreds up to 16 sheets of paper at a time, shreds staples, and also shreds credit cards! No more cutting up outdated credit cards in little pieces with scissors! I liked this shredder so much that I bought another one for my Son for his Birthday to use in his home office. I have had this shredder for a few months and there are no jams or problems!! I cleaned out old files and shredded all old bank, investment, and personal papers. I had a stack of credit cards that I shredded which were outdated or sent as offers from different companies. I shred everything with my name and address on it instead of just throwing it in the trash. This Fellowes is an awesome shredder, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a home shredder!!
My old shredder (feels like I had it for a hundred years) died. I couldn't find a shredder from any of the local stores. This one I found (online from Walmart) has everything I want in a shredder and more. The bin is easily opened and closed. It's quiet. It has a large page acceptance. The instructions are clear. I had oil (a bottle) and bags (3) that came in the box. It (in the instructions) says it was tested so that there shouldn't be any problems. In short, I love it.
I'm very happy with how well it works. I can use it consistently without having to keep stopping to let it cool down. I can do more than one paper at a time. And I don't have to worry about someone being able to piece it together. Well worth the money.
This item is heavy and for high volume shredding. I bought this for a home office, and unless you are truly running a business out of your home office, this may be more than you need. Suggest a lesser model for those simply doing home related shredding. Got it on sale so it was only a little more than the lower model, but frankly wish I had bought the lesser, lighter, easier to move, and a bit more cosmetically nice-looking white home model.
Really great product and works like a charm for all the heavy duty shredding I do involving estate work. I shredded a ton of stuff and nothing got jammed. This is a heavy duty shredder. However it was pretty expensive.
Needed a shredder that was large enough so I would not have to keep emptying it and powerful enough to handle a lot of shredding for at least ten minutes of continuous use. The PS-79CI was just what I need it. The six gallon container is okay since the paper is shredded into really small confetti pieces. The power of the shredder is great. I have been shredding old bank statements and junk mail with no jamming problems. Just keep oil each time you empty the bag.
So far, I find that the Fellowes Powershred is doing a great job of shredding my documents for security purposes. Its durability seems to be good, only time will tell. As far as ease of use, it's easier than any other shredder that I've owned. I've only shredded paper documents; I haven't tried cards or CDs yet.
A great, powerful and well built Shredder with a large capacity at a very good price ,and it was delivered promptly with great care . The Manufacturer's sealed carton was carefully placed inside another protective carton. Would definitely recommend this shredder for home or office.
These shredders last for years. I replaced the 79Ci I bought 17 years ago. This shredder is dependable and trouble free if you oil it when you replace the bags.
I just don't like this shredder. For me it does jam and seems I can only shred maybe 4 pieces of paper at a time. I go through shredders, and I'd have to say this is the worst one I have ever owned and do not recommend it.
