Our home had hard-wired smoke and fire alarms installed when we had it built. After 14 years, we had only replaced one alarm. We had the fire department stop by and evaluate our system, and they emphatically suggested that we replace all of them as they seem to be only effective for about 10 years. So, we ordered the replacement First-Alert smoke and fire alarms throughout the house. They were easy to install, fit exactly as the ones being replaced, and all seem to be working well. Tested them all after installation and they will certainly get your attention! Would recommend them for anyone wanting to upgrade their alarm system within their home.
Replaced older hard wired alarm with this hard wired model with battery back-up. Easy to install. Cut connector from old unit because the adapter connectors that come with this unit did not match my hard wire connector. Installed, tested and operational in ten minutes. Excellent price.
First Alert SA9120BPCN Hard Wired Smoke and Fire Detector With Adapter Kit is great because: hardwired as well as battery backup comes with adapter plugs so anyone can easily "wire" it up without doing wiring! recommended on Consumer Reports; better than other smoke detectors with too many annoying false alarms Walmart price is cheaper even than most places get for the same detector WITHOUT the adapter plugs, so, it's the best value. Easy to order on line and have it shipped free to your local store for pickup. Great.
finally replaced both detectors originally installed when house built in '86, painless process easy install.
Have prior experience with this brand and was completely satisfied so it was an easy decision to stay with this brand. Really liked the fact that the base and wiring of the old one could be used so after the step ladder was set up the instillation took less then a minute!
I purchased 5 of these after the detectors in our home started churping due to them reaching their 10 year life. These were easy to install from the base to the detector itself. They appear to be working great and Wal-Mart's price was much, much better than Home Depot, Lowes, and Amazon.
I had some older units throughout the house and they started to chirp, usually in the middle of the night, for no reason. I did a search to find replacements and of all places Walmart had the detector and the cheapest price. I ordered 8 to replace every one in the house. It took me about 10 minutes per monitor to do. I replaced the hanging bracket because the old was turning yellow from age (but surprisingly they would have worked, they were the same). Now I sleep nights and don't get surprised any more. The only thing I did not like was that the batteries that they came with were not the good ones recommended so I went out and bought 8 new batteries. Problem resolved for a year.
The installation was easy ,Following the instructions. However when the installation was done it started to beep.indicating a weak batterie.I replaced the batterie and it continue to beep.I disasembled the unit and notice that the contacts were not touching the batterie.Bend the taps forward and the unit works fine.I plan to buy one more for the basement.
We purchased these to replace old ones and everytime I cook something in oven they are so sensitive they go off. Its easy to disconnect them but a pain when everytime i cook they do this. I clean my oven and they still go off. I use my fan and still goes off. Maybe they can make ones that aren't so sensitive. I will be searching for different ones soon.
They say in the description and specs that it will adapt to all Firex G models as listed. Then you buy it (and you can't just replace one, but have to replace ALL of your units in line) you'll find in small print in one spot it won't adapt to one specific model. No model number, just a picture of the wire harness which is nearly identicle to the one it will work with. Called the company and they know it isn't listed anywhere you'd find it easily. Nothing they will do about it, just go and rewire your entire set! Nice customer service. Truthful specs would help before I bought the group. Same thing about info on replacing just one. They only tell you that all must be replaced in the small print too! If you only try one, all of the units in your house will go off.
