Fiskars D-Handle Steel Transplant Spade, 46"

this is a GREAT value. the spade does a great job up through medium-heavy transplants (probably higher if i had the chance to use it on heavy duty work), is extremely well built and solid and cuts through compacted hard soil and roots like a knife through warm butter. i also like that it did its job holding up to my "foot stomping" to further loosen soil and roots to aid removal. no need to pay "big bucks" for the other guys. bravo fiskars!!

I live in an area that is full of clay, making digging very difficult. This shovel is great because it is pointed and narrow, making it easy to get through the solid clay. I am a firm believer in build it with some margin and this shovel has that. It is tough and strong, allowing you to take a full shovel, even in clay, without worrying that you are going to break the handle. Lastly, the handle on the end gives you great leverage and makes the job easier. I would buy this again and am wondering why I didn't get it sooner.

This is a sturdy shovel with a lifetime warranty. Sometimes paying a little extra is worth it. I have had other similar shovels and they end up breaking. I don't think this one will.

Well made! Cannot stress the importance of a brand that continually produces well made products. This shape of shovel is particularly useful for gardeners (ease of planting and moving items). I actually bought this for myself for Christmas.

bought this for digging metal detector finds. Works great for that purpose. Maybe a little long in the handle, but that only seems to effect carrying while detecting.

I've finally & happily gave up on the wood. I had sticks cracking on just full-load digs of virgin soil, never had that happen back in the day. But, that's what you get in a dolt society that puts its trust in disposability. Thank you Fiskars for the rescue, fantastic job on breaking the mould...though I would've preferred a metal handle in your "all-steel" proclamation, but seems sturdy enough.

At my age (83) I find it much easier to used than a full sized spade. Construction of spade was excellent

Feels good using it. The large D-Ring handle is comfortable and allows for better grip and it has kickplates too. Very nice transplant shovel.

Used this to plant tomato plants. This shovel made it much easier than a traditional wide blade. Several small cuts with this in a circle and voila, a hole was made!

Flimsy. The head keeps bending. I do not think this will last a lifetime as it claims. The handle is good.
