This is a fantastic shovel. I ended up finding this one after my husband broke 2 or 3 of the cheaper ones. I was initially hesitant to spend this much, but it really is worth it. No moving pieces to get loose by the shovel head, heavy dutu, sturdy, sharp - it's really the best shovel I've ever used.

It is ok as a digging shovel, which it is. I just needed a long handled shovel instead. It is as the description reads

Only Fiskars

GODyesthatGOD September 28, 2014

At least Fiskars is paying attention! No more creaking, cracking or snapping. Almost perfect, I just would like to see a steel handle. But, this double wide handle lets you comfortably grip the bottom of the handle at the shaft for those just a little more moments to save the handle for very much commercial or residential future use. Wood is no longer any good, you're wasting your money if you buy anything but full metal.

Great shovel

Susan November 2, 2024

This shovel is strong and durable.I have terrible ground like cement and this shovel actually digs in it without breaking. It's great to be able to dig without worrying that the shovel handle will snap in half.

My husband is really enjoying his new shovel

Egoodan November 8, 2021

Upon first impression I thought this shovel was nice but a little shorter than most. It may not be shorter though it just seems as if it might be. My husband is 5' 7" though and it works great for him. Seems to be very well made, easy to dig with, the extra round handle is nice for gripping. It also has ridges cut into the sides to help dig. Its a nice shovel and will get lots of use at our home. I'm including a picture for a better reference.

Good quality product

CamplngDan November 1, 2021

Ok. It's a shovel. What kind of review can you give? Yes, it's great for digging holes. But getting into the details of this we find a stout little digger. It's sturdy, comfortable and has a decent weight & balance to it. I'm a short man at 5'7" and the length suits me well. The sharpened edge and oversized foot step make digging as effortless as I've ever known. I was going to mark one and two-foot lines on it to easily determine how deeply I'd dug. But, after I put a measure to the unit I noticed the footstep was 12" above the tip of the shovel, and there's a clear horizontal line on the decal which is 24" above the tip. If it can with built in gloves, it would be perfect.

Heavy Duty Shovel

SBella November 4, 2021

This is one shovel that far exceeded my expectations. I am really impressed with how well constructed and heavy duty it is. I had purchased another brand shovel from Walmart about a year ago and although so far it does the job the comparison between the two is unmistakable. I loaned that shovel out to a family member, I am now thinking I will just tell him he can keep it or at the very least use that one as my 'loaner' shovel for next time. As the description states the Fiskars shovel has a D ring handle, which is good for gripping better and for hanging. This handle is made of a very hard grained plastic with a matte finish in a bright orange color. The drawback to that is that the dirt shows up easily on the handle but hey after all it is made for digging in the dirt. The heavy duty steel construction has a glossy black baked finish. The foot rest for pushing into the dirt is pretty substantial in comparison to other shovels. The measurements are 48 inches approximately from top of handle to tip of blade, the blade is 12 inches long by 9 inches wide, handle is approximately 8 inches x 4 inches. This shovel looks like it would hold up pretty well for big jobs. It is a great investment. I highly recommend.

Awesome tool!

Anonymous September 30, 2023

I love the D handle! This was a replacement for a slightly shorter version that "sprouted legs." The D handle makes work Much more comfortable on the back to throw the scooped material %26 the very large area for one's foot to push is wonderful! Wish I had one of these ages ago!

Great shovel, looks awesome

HappyMama November 8, 2021

I wish I could give a more detailed review, but when my shovel arrived my husband liked it so much he claimed it for himself. He's been using it ever since. I ordered it to assist me in planting the many trees I want to plant around our property. I'm not sure what all my husband has been using it for, but he's used it for a lot. It's standing up really great to him, which is a testament to what a good shovel it is. I suppose I'll have to order another one for myself if I want to get my trees planted.

Too Big %26 Heavy

TreborLovesIt January 22, 2024

I purchased this shovel to use while metal detecting. It was advertised as such. The shovel was poorly shipped. The head was taped in a box and the handled was out of the boxes. It could be bent. I haven't unwrapped the handle. I might return it so container intact. I would not recommend this shovel for metal detecting. I'm a woman so a man might use it but it is too cumbersome for even a man to use metal detecting.
