Anytime you buy a Fiskars item, you've got the best. I had a pair of Fiskars pruning shears that I couldn't find, and three years later found them in the garden looking terrible. That said, when I cleaned them, they looked just like new. None of my garden equipment has held up like Fiskars. The spade has multiple uses, but I used it for edging. It has a steel handle, does a great job of edging, and can be used for other types of garden jobs, including cleaning debris from curbs. For edging, do it after a rain and slant the spade. Don't remove dirt until it dries out, as this makes for an easier dirt removal, thereby less labor and time spent.
It probably wasn't the right shovel for this particular project because the shovel was not very wide, so it took a little bit longer to do my sidewalk. I believe there are other tools out there that are wider for a project like this. But either way this spade was very easy to use and I love the end results! I can be a little unsteady on my feet but the large handle made me feel very secure and stable. Warning: Do not use if the spade is wet/slippery in any way where you place your foot to press down. The large bruise on the back of my calf is almost a week healed and was much worse LOL. Lesson learned!
Lifetime warranty! Heavy duty. Great strong handle. Bright orange so you can spot it when you've misplaced it. Works as a dogging shovel should. I will say the line of discard gardening tools are top notch. I love the d shaped handle. Makes gripping and really getting into the ground much easier than a standard wood handle. The edge is sharp and it's not too heavy. I'm very pleased and also got the digging fork and edger with the same handles. Quite pleased with the products. I'll be sure to call in the lifetime warranty if anything happens to it. Although I'm not too sure about their shipping methods lol. The digging fork came in a box and this one came somewhat wrapped at the shovel end. The edger I bought simply had a box taped on the bottom of it. Maybe that says more to the quality since not one item arrived damaged.
These Fiskars shovels are built like tanks. Simple, sturdy, with heavy welds, a comfortable grip and very strong--what more do you need?
The shape of the shovel aided when digging new flower beds. I thought that the shape of the back of the shovel aided in providing leverage.
We used it to dig a drainage ditch. The flat blade worked well getting into small spaces between roots and clearing out the loose dirt in the ditch. Perfect application.
My husband uses this daily to help bury underground wires and cables. He has bought these multiple times for his crew.
I bought this awhile back to clean tracks on dirt equipment. The aerodynamics of the handle makes it easy to use with not hand cramping.
Great quality. Perfect for edging.
The handle is discolored and looks like CRAP. NOT HAPPY AT ALL it looks really CRAPPY Next to all the other 7 fiskars products ive bought from Wal-Mart????? Fix my issue Please
