We've had an on-going problem with our 20 year old fiberglass/gelcoat shower/tub. The leak started as a small hairline crack in the bottom and has grown to 2-3". Over the last 3 years I've patched it twice with the Gelcoat Repair Kits which last a while, but begin leaking again. I did some research and decided to give Flex Paste a try. I covered the leaking area with Flex Paste and have been leak free for a couple of weeks. It seems like a solid repair and we'll see how long it lasts. I like that I can spread the Flex Paste well beyond the crack.
I wish the cure time was faster. used to repair large hole in plastic fender liner on older Honda Civic. Ended up putting 2 layers on over period of 2 days.
Two different uses of the Flexseal paste I have never seen advertised. 1) I have used Flexseal to repair bicycle inner tube punctures rather than a cheap patch. Normal prep of the tube and a coating if the paste is all that's required tor an air tight seal and no issues. As a competitive cyclist, I have lots of training rides in less than ideal conditions resulting in several punctures. I'll usually collect several tubes and spend very few minutes affecting the repairs. 2) I'm currently replacing pool decking and installing composite decking over a concrete and paver pool deck. Over time, the pool deck has shifted and cracked and the surface is uneven and broken in places. I use Flex seal to help anchor the ends of the composite decking to the existing surface to keep the surface level and secure. Works well.
Not sure what happened with the item I got but it was caked hard and hard to work with not sure if it was how it was stored but it was not what I had expected. It was very difficult to apply to the surface where I needed it , as it was overhead and because of it no being as pasty as I had anticipated made the project harder than it should have been A picture of the product received is submitted
It works as described to use under water . But I warn anyone trying to use this product in their Koi fish pond.. Do not use! I attempted to use this to stop a leaky water skimmer. Although, so far my fish seem unharmed, Flex Paste leaves a large oily film on top of the water. It is virtually impossible to get rid of without fully draining and washing your pond out.
I bought the Flex Paste in March of this year. We opened it yesterday (April of this year). There was a ring of dried paste 1/4 of the way down. It was very difficult to get the good paste out from below the ring. We would have been able to finish our project if not for the dried paste. I don’t appreciate spending $15 and not being able to use all of the product.
Arrived mostly solidified with a central area of barely useable semi solid rubber. Very disappointed.
The item arrived with 1-1.75” of hardened product. The top layer was almost impossible to penetrate. I was able to make a small hole with a drill bit and scoop out 2-3 teaspoons. My worst experience with Flex seal.
Open the container to use it for the first time today half the product has already hardened. Not pleased at all. I can only use the middle.
this product was more of a mess to use just to have it NOT work at all.. we had a hole in the tub drain. the stuff seemed like it was already starting to dry before we even opened it. I used spakle tool to spread it on the pipe which was a nightmare.. it says it stick on wet surfaces LIE.. WE LET IT SET FOR 48 HRS and as soon as we turned the water on in the tub it sprayed water everywhere..
