I MUST SAY THAT THE QUALITY OF THIS VEST IS ABOVE MY EXPECTATION!! IT'S STURDY, STRONG, AND FITS WELL. I HAVE LOST A TOTAL OF 26LBS SINCE I STARTED WORKING OUT WITH IT!! IT MAKES THE BODY WORK A LOT HARDER, I'M UP TO WEARING 45LBS OF WEIGHT. THE ONE I HAVE GOES UP TO 80LBS!!! LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING THERE!!!
It fits great and I like that I can adjust the weight on the vest. Started with only 20 lbs and will work my way up to the full 40 lbs eventually. I also like it showed up in time to let my sister-in-law try it out before she went and bought a 20 lb vest that's not adjustable in the amount of weight on it. She definitely doesn't need a full 20 lb vest to start with.
very well made weight vest and allows excellent movement under the arms and the fit is very adjustable for doing body - weight exercises. Weights are easy to remove and replace in the vest.
Simple review; Great vest and will be worth your money if you use it. A more detailed review; I use it for pull ups, Australian pull ups, push ups, dips, chin ups and sometimes dumbbell farmer's walk. 1) I haven't tried to but probably wouldn't use for running. Maybe light jogging but not running or any jumping like burpees or box jumps. I'm saying this without trying it but just an observation. 2) Straps seem strong and secure. I put it on for certain exercises and keep it on until I'm done so it's not coming on and off frequently. It's put on, I exercise for 30-35 minutes and then remove it for the remainder of my exercise. 3) Had it for a few weeks and used it 10-12 times so durability is to be determined. 4) Weights are a challenge to put in when you're using every slot but I bought the 80lb vest and only use 6 total weights for a vest that weighs 30.8lbs. I try to increase by one sandbag weight each week. I have not weighed the sand bags but would guess they are 4.75lbs each and the vest itself is approximately 2.3lbs. 5) Fit and length seems fine for me. I'm a 5'8" male at 165lbs on a good day. My waist size is 32-33 and my chest is 43-44. I would guess if you have a smaller waist, you'll feel some movement. If you have a waist over 40 inches, you may need to review someone else. It may fit too tight at that waist size. Also, if you have a larger size chest, I would try it on at the store. A larger chest and possibly stronger guy probably would use all the front slots for the sandbag weights and that may be too tight in the chest. Misc. stuff: some sandbag weights are stiff from moisture. This makes it hard to put into the vest slots. Punch, karate chop or rough them up a little and they will slide in. The shoulder straps fit well and don't bother me. The middle edge right above the "Fuel" logo pokes right into my chest or throat and bothers me. Because of different body types, this may not be an issue. Leave it out and air dry after you exercise or it will start to smell.
Very well made, heavy duty straps, very nice adjustable fit! Highly recommend this is my 4th vest and the best and most durable one yet!
Nerd alert! This review will be very detailed about weighted vest use for fitness, and much, much more! This is an OK vest for those on a budget. The 40lb version I bought has 16 pockets for the included sandbags, and came with 15 nylon-wrapped sandbags, each one about 2.5lb, making the fully loaded vest 40lb as advertised. The BEST feature is you can load as many bags as you like, making the vest highly adaptable, as your fitness goals improve. As others have mentioned, the sandbags fit real tight in the pockets, its a chore to slide them in. The vest is comfortable, having smooth and somewhat rigid surfaces that fit against your back and chest. The velcro straps on either side are a little awkward to thread through the d rings, but do secure the vest in place once laced up. Overall, the nylon stitching seems solid. I've used it for a month, with up to 22lb of bags installed, and I HIGHLY recommend weighted vest use to increase fitness while walking. It's easy on aging joints, compared to running. The extra weight greatly increases fitness returns for time invested. Just listen to your body and make adjustments in weight or duration of workouts as indicated. I'm keeping this vest, with the following change to make it super effective: I swapped out the sand bags for steel shot, which is over 4 times the density of sand. I just use plastic zip lock bags which are loaded up so they are easy slide into the pockets. Frankly, this makes the loaded vest a lot less bulky if you're going to load near the max. I bought a 50lb bag of steel shot for about $80. Sold for wakeboard ballast. There's a ton of vests out there...in retrospect, I'd buy an empty vest with no weights, skipping the sandbags altogether, to get the more compact profile. Some other vests that feature solid metal inserts instead of sandbags would do the same, but I think they are way more expensive. One other thing. These vests make you sweat a lot more! I'm currently experimenting with a rigid duty belt, plus zip-up molle pouches loaded with steel shot, to get the weighted walking impact in hotter seasons without overheating the chest area.
Velcro and shoulder straps are still holding strong have about 15 uses. I am only using 25-35lbs at a time.
I can't recommend the 70lb version to anyone AT LEAST 6' tall and/or people with a considerably bulkier torso than mine. I'm exactly 5'8” and thin. Unfortunately, it's so long that it rubs the tops of my thighs with each step I take. As with many weighted vests, the back tends to pull a little lower than the front so it's landing about midway on my glutes. [That fact that shorter people haven't posted similar experiences with the length leads me to think the length is shorter for lighter weight vests.] This problem could have been solved by easier making adjustable shoulder straps or making the head opening smaller. No exaggeration, your head could be the size of a small beach ball and it could fit through the head opening. I have no idea why they made it with such a large opening. The head opening of my 20lb vest (different brand) isn't nearly so big. Otherwise, the quality of manufacturing seems fine. FYI, I've learned that heavier vests (starting at around 100lbs) switch to iron bars because sand or iron sand is too bulky at such high weight. Since the dense bars take up much less space than sand, vests can remain much smaller/shorter. So I returned this vest and about a 100lb vest thats visibly much shorter. I'll remove several iron bars at first and (hopefully) work my way up to the full 100lb.
Serves it purpose. It's a bit of a workout getting the weights in the vest, but probably to prevent them from moving during use. It is entirely too long and there is no way to adjust it. Too much strap and it sags, creating bruises on upper thighs. If the length was shorter or if they offered different sizes, this best would have gotten 5 stars. **I am 5'2" **
I bought a weighted vest on my doctor's recommendation, having lost over 50 lbs my walks are not getting the results they used to. It comes with no instructions whatsoever, so I had to figure out how to put it on and I doubt I'm doing it the way it was intended. The fit is pretty small. I wear a men's XL shirt and the velcro barely reaches - one side is very short, the other quite long. The weights are extremely difficult to get into the slots - it's a job for three hands. Also, if you load the top slots, you can't really load the bottom ones, so start from the bottom! Because of the weights being tight, there is no movement, so it's comfortable to wear, no shifting or rubbing. The vest is 2 lbs, apparently, and it comes with twelve 4 lb weights. Three stars due to difficult getting it together. Otherwise, performs well.
