instructions were easy to follow . mailbox is sturdy and nice .
Great value. I recommend measuring the distance between the posts and making holes in the ground just slightly smaller than the posts, because the metal is very thin and bends easily when hammering on it. Mine twisted slightly while hammering, so I removed it from the ground and started again just beside the first holes. Once the posts were in all the way, it was still a little wobbly, so I bought 2 pieces of 2-foot rebar, hammered them in about a foot deep, 1 rebar up against each post, and zip-tied them near the top and bottom of each rebar, making the whole assembly solid.
I bought 2 of these mailboxes. I received them within just days of ordering them. It took only 15 minutes to assemble both of them. It did take some time (about 30 minutes each) to hammer them into the ground (early November in WI). I held a block of wood on the top of the steak then hammered to prevent damage to the steaks. If it was easy for this 59 year old gal, anybody can assemble and install this mailbox without frustration. A great bargain!
The mailbox was very sturdy once assembled. The assembly took less than 15 minutes. Driving the support beams into the ground was the most difficult part and resulted in some damage because they had to be driven into the ground with a heavy hammer. It is this operation which needs more attention and consideration by the manufacturer because it can result in damaging the product to the point of not being usable.
Easy set up. Looks nice! Reasonable price as well. Came super quick! If anyone has a cricut machine like I do you can make your own numbers and any designs!
We use these on our rental properties, they are sturdy and easy to assemble. We will be ordering more with the site to store option, it's easy and no shipping charge.
I had some challenges while putting it together---my hands were too big for some of the tight spaces and I didn't have the right size tools, so I had to improvise. That was probably the hardest part, it took about 30 minutes. Then it was just a matter of digging the hole, and setting it. Seems to be doing well. My concern is that where I live there is a lot of snow, sand and salt, and my last mailbox post actually corroded. The 'posts' for this one are flimsier, but if I get 8-10 years out of it like the last one, I'll be happy.
This is not an expensive mailbox so I didn't expect it to be great, since it is like the one that was here when I bought the house, I thought it would fit on the base that was left anchored in the asphalt after a truck knocked over the first box and stand. On the instructions this one is set in the ground. I think it might fit the old base if I can get the box screwed to the stand. I would not recommend it if you are older and have some arthritis in your hands as it makes this one more difficult to put together.
Maybe I got a bad one of these....but it is Very unstable. The frame is 2 pieces that slide together and do Not form a stable fit. I guess I can drill holes and insert screws to try to fix this, but I shouldn't Have to. The door of the mailbox is bent in many places, and I can shut it securely but then it's almost locked. Have bent what they said to bend to fix that problem but that didn't work. The whole door has bends like you were making a pie crust ! Like I said, maybe I just got a bad one, but wow, not good.
This mailbox with stand is trash. Please don't waste your money on this. This is cheaply made and takes quite a while to assemble. They didn't even provide enough screws to assemble. The door on the mailbox doesn't even close right. They have you slide the top with the mailbox into a crimped piece of metal that is the base. Why not provide holes to screw it in? Oh ya, you didn't even provide enough screws to attach the mailbox to the cheap steel so-called stand. This is really junk. The Instructions make no sense.
