Google Nest Mini (2nd Generation) Smart Speaker - Charcoal

The google nest smart speaker is a great purchase for almost any home. I purchased one from my grandparents (ages 85yrs old) thinking it would be a great tool for them to have in their home and to give me a peace of mind in case of emergency. Unfortunately it was very difficult for me to try to teach them how to use it also very hard to convince them that they needed it but stubborn they stayed and returned it went .

Great little speaker with amazingly strong output. The only thing I didn't love about the speaker was that the plug wasn't US useable, so fortunately there was an adapter included for the plug. Using the adapter works well, but it causes the plug to extend out several inches from the piece of furniture I'm using, which I didn't love. However, it's not really too big a problem. Note- I ordered one speaker that came without the adapter which I returned. But this one did include the adapter.

The Google Nest mini is awesome and now it is my smart light switch for my Monster lights.

Excellent speakers

This is the six one I have in my house. My first one was a Christmas present from my daughter and I've just been on the automation train ever since then. Sometimes there's some issues setting them up. Another attempt usually fixes the problem. Bottom line is, Google home automation is a great help to me. I can monitor and have control of my thermostats all the roku's the lights, the security system, and the nanny cams. The price of the equipment to do this used to be out of reach but it's much more reasonable now. If you're going to buy this is a gift for somebody you need to make sure that the person you're buying for is comfortable with technology. There are some people still struggling with their cell phones!

I bought this assuming that it would actually function like a smart assistant, but it can't even do half of the stuff that my Android phone's voice assistant can do. I thought the functionality would be greater than the Google Assistant found on phones, but it really is worse. Most of the things that you ask it it gives you the generic "I don't understand" and if you request any piece of media, before playing it, every single time, it will give you a long spiel about needing to get YouTube premium. What does YouTube have anything to do with the Google Assistant? I was also under the impression that Gemini would be enabled, and while the option is there, it just simply doesn't. That's even more frustrating than if it wasn't there in the first place. This item sucks. Save your money and get an Alexa.

Had no trouble with numerous 1st Gen Google Minis. The setup on this 2nd Gen Google Nest Mini fails to complete no matter what troubleshooting or problem solving I have carried out. I am technology-inclined and have set up a Google Home, a Google Display and 4 Google Minis without issue prior to this.
