It is probably OK to use smalls amount of cassia occasionally. But if you are a daily user, it pays to seek out Ceylon, or "true" cinnamon. Even if you do choose the Ceylon variety, more is not necessarily better. Use it in moderation for culinary and medicinal purposes, and monitor any health conditions with your physician. Some bottles of powdered cinnamon may not specify which type it is. Usually Ceylon will be labeled. If you have unlabeled, whole cinnamon sticks -- which are actually the plant bark -- the rolled bark of Ceylon cinnamon will be thinner and multilayered compared to the thicker bark of cassia. There are differences in cinnamon sticks for the person who described these from their order.
I like the size container the cinnamon sticks come in. Has a nice smell to them. I use my for flavor in hot drinks and in a pot on the stove with lemon and orange peels, sometimes some peppermint oil, or essential lavender oil. Makes the kitchen smell wonderful.
I use these only for a hot pot in the kitchen, for their fragrance. There's nothing on the container to indicate which variety of cinnamon they are, but the sticks are the very hard kind that do not break easily. Quite fragrant. The price is decent compared to others I looked at. For my limited purpose, I would buy them again.
I liked the value, but these sticks are the most fragrant. Some were a little blemished, but still usable. It's difficult to buy things like this online because you can really look at what you'll be receiving. But Covid-times dictates online shopping.
Don't buy if the sticks are dark, they taste bitter and almost have a pesticide taste to them. They are much better if they are very light in color.
Price was higher than the local store and it was only about 2/3 full. The one I just bought at the store was completely full. I recommend buying at the store. We were using the sticks for sachet bags.
I've never had an issue with other cinnamon brands so I decided to try this brand. I opened the bottle and there was no cinnamon smell which I found odd, so I decided to boil a few sticks to make a tea. However, there was no cinnamon smell but more of a manufactured smell and taste. I've purchased items from Great Value and never had an issue except with these "cinnamon sticks."
Has no flavor. I added sticks to my coffee for cinnamon flavor but I could not taste it. I have used other name brands before and they did give cinnamon flavor to my coffee.
The worst EVER!! I have been drinking Cinnamon tea since I can remember and I ordered this because of the value but I donât think these are real cinnamon sticks. They ALL looked EXACTLY the same! Same shape, they rolled with the same curve. I have seen many cinnamon sticks and though they look similar they never looked exactly the same. The taste was also not natural but more manufactured. It seemed like they created a roll of wood and sprayed it with cinnamon scent. I hate returning things especially at Walmart but I had to return these and complain. Customer service didnât seem concerned. You can see on the picture on left are these and on the right the natural cinnamon sticks. They look completely different.
It doesn't comes full like the photo and the stiks are too slim. It doesn't have the cinnamon smell. Sorry I don't like it.
