The greenworks brand is my goto, I have all their lawn care devices and they are very reliable and easy to maintain being all electric with rechargeable batteries. Another bonus, they are very quiet, so I don't have disturb my neighbors, no matter the time of day I use them.

I was shocked how easy this machine is after charging the battery. No one told me this so i am going to let others know, it only needs 1 battery to run. It looks like two when opening the lid but its not. Dont let that discourage you. I got mine at a great price too. I love how it folds up in the corner and its light weight. When the side piece is on, when mowing make sure and lift the mower a few time to spit out the grass trimings

It's 21", which is the widest push lawn mower on the market. Quiet. Comes with a battery and charger. No stinky gasoline. No clogged up carburetor. No need to push a gasoline squirt button 5 times to start the engine. No dirty oil. No need for earplugs. Store it inside your home. Mow early in the morning without bothering your neighbors or getting sunburn. Zero maintenance. No breakdowns. Good exercise. Listen to your smart phone while mowing. Buy it and mow your lawn.

Nice and Light Mower

Shannon July 13, 2025

Nice and light! Charges fast- approx 2 hours total for a full charge. Manuals state approx 30 mins total use on one battery charge. There is space for a backup battery to be stored. Arrived mostly together- just need to attach handle bar and bagger if using. Mows great and smoothly. I am very happy to have bought this and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Great for maintaining a smaller yard.

Louis December 19, 2025

Really good for maintaining a lawn, struggles if you let your lawn get overgrown. Battery lasts almost exactly 30mins. Cuts off often if your grass is overgrown due to battery not being able to handle thicker grass. Battery needs to cool down before it will recharge, which has taken over an hour before, so you either need a second battery or need to be done in 30mins. Overall, once i got my grass cut the first time when it was overgrown, then it was a much smoother experience.

Good Mower, Bad Battery

Doug August 21, 2025

Well, I read the other reviews prior to purchasing, which in general were positive on the performance of the mower, but negative on the battery. Yup. Same here. I have a small yard, and with a full charge it crapped out about half to two thirds through the yard. Customer service was relatively easy to contact, and after providing all the serial numbers etc. they are shipping another battery. Hopefully it will work. A few words for the powers that be at Greenworks, if they ever see any of these reviews: Surely you can't be serious charging $180 for the extra batteries for this mower. Really? Especially when the majority don't even seem to work? Ever hear of Amazon and Temu? If I were in your management system, I would be on the quality control people like a dog on a greasy rag. These are coming from Vietnam and China, and should be meeting some level of testing for reliability and function. I have another Greenworks product, corded, with which I am quite satisfied. It appears, however, that Greenworks has a genuine problem with the batteries and need to get on top of it quick, or watch sales go down the river. I want to use the product now, not have the hassle of spending time on the phone, gathering info and then waiting for another part to ship, not knowing if I will have to repeat the process again. Just a thought in case anyone is paying attention.

Although it's nice and quiet and very easy to use, the advertised run time of 40-45 minutes is complete rubbish. It came with a 40volt 5.0ah battery that lasts around 21 minutes on very average grass. It's not thick grass or long. Expect to purchase several additional batteries if you have an average size lawn. You can't charge a battery right after using it to mow with, it needs to cool down for 20-30 minutes before the charger will start. Amazon has some off brand 40 volt 6.0ah batteries for $45 that last a few minutes longer than the name brand greenworks battery.

Battery last 7 min max

anonymous August 10, 2025

I had high hopes, but this thing is very lacking in the endurance department. I wish it came with two batteries, I would have at least be able to finish my small back yard. First thing I did before using the mower was to charge the battery. It took 1.75 hours to fully charge, next thing I did was cool the battery down before using. I let it cool for 1 hour. Last thing I did was start mowing and after 7 minutes, yes thats right 7 minutes timed on the dot. I started at 5:15pm and battery died at 5:22pm. This is not a prank or joke this is serious stuff, I could not believe it. I think electric mowers have a long way to go or maybe I just got a bad battery? I am letting the battery cool off before charging again to see what happens. On the bright side of things, the mower itself works great. I am amazed how quiet it is and it is pretty strong. The battery life on the other hand is garbage, plain and simple I cant even finish a small back yard.

The unit needs more weight on the front. After the second charge, the mower stopped running with 80% battery power remaining. After waiting for 5 minutes, it started up but seems to be running faster than at first use. Buying this mower on sale, I thought, was a good buy. I will be returning it. I do have another Greenworks cordless products which works great.

Company backs their product but what a nuisance!

gardengal December 1, 2024

It kept cutting off.. every 5 minutes. They sent me a new battery. Same thing. They sent me a new lawn mower but I have been unable to test it due to weather.. green-works didn't want the first mower back.. 😟 guess it goes in C the landfill.. so much for being eco- friendly!
