GrowTrax 50-ft. x 1-ft. Full Sun, Bermuda Rye Mixture Grass Seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pretty amazed at how quickly we have sprouted grass! I've taken some photos, but don't think the reviews allow photos to be posted with them. We decided not to put up our 15 foot pool this year, due to increased cost of water, so we cleared off most of the sand, put down about 1/2" to 1" of topsoil, then rolled out a 200 sq ft roll of NU-Lawn and I'm shocked how quickly it's growing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A new sizable space in the backyard needed grass. Our backyard is small, fenced, and partially shaded. We also have dogs and kids using this space daily. We needed the easiest and fastest process for new grass. It needed to endure sun, shade, traffic and mixed terrain (top soil/sand). GrowTrax has been a great alternative to loose seed, straw cover, or sod. Laying out the roll is easy and painless. HOWEVER we learned the hard way not to lay out fresh GrowTrax if any measurable wind is in the forecast. Even after lots of watering it does not anchor down for about a week. Don't let wind ruin the product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought 2 rolls,,,,I rolled both rolls side by side out over 3 inches of new garden soil and a inch plus of Miracle Grow Soil....Watered 3 times a day for 3 weeks ....started seeing sprouts appx 2 weeks.......I continue to water 2-3 times a day.

Great results! I rolled out 600 square feet over a combination bare soil and short-cut dry grass. Here's what I learned. Proper watering is imperative; I followed watering recommendations to a tee and got great results (adjust watering according to your environment needs -- Google it). On bare soil, everything works as expected. When laying atop "scalped" grass, however, be aware that after a couple of weeks the watering schedule and built-in fertilizer will encourage the grass underneath to grow faster than the sprouts (especially with Bermuda). So, scalping the landscape means, essentially stripping it. Where old grass starts growing, this produces "tenting" where parts of the partially disintegrating roll will lose contact with the soil. I brought out a hose and sprayed the tents as directly on top as I could to get them to break up and lay flat. I also found that splashing muddy water on top (not watery mud) worked well to weigh down the tents. Scalping is essential, because it will take a lot longer to wait for the roll to disintegrate on top of anything higher than half an inch. Went from brown (before install) to bright green in 3 weeks!

Unfortunately, we had a heavy rain (not predicted) soon after installing and the majority of the product washed away. I'm going to see if I can salvage any of it tomorrow. I wasn't sure how to rate the product, since it was an act of nature that messed it up, and leaves me with no real way to assess it…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this in hope to grow grass grass on our dirt patch. I did prep the soil and applied as instructed. Been watering for two weeks now 3 times a day, which is quite wasteful water giving we live in Southern California, and we have not seen anything yet. The fabric/paper is slowly dissolving, but the seeds are not doing much. There is very few that have tiny sprouts but not enough to even consider it a coverage. Disappointing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, I've had no Sprouts and have been very challenged with keeping it wet and not lifting. Everywhere has wind, and sometimes in the spring we get higher winds, especially in the southwest however, I had imagined that after two or three days of watering, it would not have done this. Nothing on the website really gave any instruction to this fact, except for “don't plant when windy“. I've had portions of the matting ruined already, and have not seen any Sprouts after almost 2 weeks. I will continue to do what I can following suggested instructions and give it another couple of weeks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product is very easy to use. Roll out and wet I did the new grass. So tilled the the dirt and added compost to help with some nutrients. I did a large are of 9000 sqft. I didn't order enough so I also did the regular straw. It's been down fo 15 days. The grow trax has no grass sprouts. Where I did straw and regular seed has grass sprouts about 4” tall now. I water every 4 hours to keep everything moist.

Only the rye grass portion of this product actually sprouted. I actually purchased much more of this company's Bermuda (no rye) Fertilizer and Mulch Blanket (directly from the manufacturer). I NEVER SAW ONE BLADE OF GRASS SPROUT... WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME AND $$$$.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put some seed regular grass seed down AND rolled the Growtrax over the bare areas about a week ago and have watered as recommended...not a sprout yet! Disappointed but will see what another week brings.
