Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, Tea & Water Kettle, 1.7L

Well, maybe not so little - the capacity is enough for the tea party. I had this kettle for more then a year, bought one for my parents, and recently - for my daughter. All are very pleased with it - it looks nice, durable, reliable, and boiling water super fast.

We were introduced to this fast and convenient water heater for drinks at our recent visit to my brother's home in Phoenix. We decided we had to have one in our kitchen and ordered it through the WalMart web site. It is all we expected and we are very pleased to retire our stove-top tea kettle.

Fast service, great price east & quicker than a microwave & also portable since it is wireless, you lift it off it's base! This is the third one I have given as a gift & I have two myself, one for my kitchen & one for my studio! I highly recommend this product!

Great purchase for the office. The pot is easy to set up, heats very quickly, and the price was fantastic! I already bought a smaller size to use at home!

It's perfect for what I needed it for.

The new style handle with the curve is not easy to hold onto, especially while filling it up, like the previous design of handle, which is more square. I really like the wider spout, the button placement to open the lid (located on the handle and not the lid with this design), the on/off switch placement (that didn't change, luckily) and it's ease of use, and how fast the kettle heats up water for my tea. Overall, it serves its purpose, just not easy to hold onto.

I don't like electric kettles that have anything but a smooth surface inside the kettle and this one had a little pipe on the inside, so I chose the Hamilton Beach 1.7 L programmable kettle instead of this one. The inside on the programmable one was completely smooth.

I had used the same model over the past 8 years until the lid locking mechanism failed. No spare parts available. The new, current model does not shut off like the old one did when taking the kettle off the base. This results in the kettle heating up further when you put the empty kettle back onto the base and it continues heating. Will be interesting to see how long the kettle lasts. Negative: As a US consumer my warranty is limited to 1 year. When used in Canada the manufacturer offers Canadians 5 years of warranty. This is obviously typical, US laws do not protect residents in the same way as in other countries.

It says stainless steel and yes the body is stainless steel. However, the water indicator is plastic and it sits in the boiling water.

I owned one of these for the last 12 years. I loved it %26 decided it was time to get a fresh new 1. Item was not properly packaged. arrived with a broken handle. I returned to the store %26 didn't buy another 1 because it was very cheaply made. Thinner materials and the base had no weight to it. Poor quality.
