This is by far the greatest or the best candle this is by for the greatest or the best can that I purchased in years. I asked myself why did I wait so long to try this can opener it is actually been a very very time saving and safety that I definitely need it. that I purchased in years. I asked myself why did I wait so long to try this can opener it is been a very, very time saving and safety that I definitely need it.
Does not rotate the can, it rotates the can opener and therefore needs a little clearance room to by pass any obstictal in its path.It is an ingenious device especially for a person that can only use one hand due to medical problems. I have not tried it on oval cans or sardine cans. but believe it will work if the can is elevated on some sort of platform or just hand hold to stabilize the can opener once the can is started( more experience is needed for low profile cans) It can be used any where. it is battery operate and comes with a charger. Number of operations per charge is unknown.
I purchased this can opener recently (to replace an under the cupboard model that had become impossible) and so far we really like it! Sometimes it is a little hard to get positioned correctly to pierce the can, but I'm getting better at holding it so I can see where I am placing the point of the cutter. It has zipped right around even dented cans. Small cans (8 oz tomato sauce size) have to be held because the weight of the can opener is more than the can, and the can will tip over. Larger weight cans do fine to let the opener zip around the top without any precautionary steadying. The removable cutter is fairly easy to reposition back on the device after removal for cleaning. The lower parts need to be cleaned with a sponge or cloth as they cannot be put into water. I wish there was an indicator light warning of low battery.
This is a great little can opener. Cordless, so it can be used anywhere, but one design flaw. The batteries AREN'T EASILY REPLACED. This is the second one I've bought (first one lasted well over 5 years). Having rechargeable batteries, IT WOULD MAKE SENSE to have them not HARD WIRED into the device. I took the old one apart, and WILL BE replacing the batteries, after a small mod is made internally to accept them. I hate not being able to replace A BATTERY, and having to throw an entire working device away. IT'S ignorant in my opinion.
My wife wanted a small opener that didn't have to be on the counter all the time. It takes a few tries to get used to it, but it works good. It's nice and small that it fits in a drawer and out of the way. I have only had it for a few weeks but it got a good work out over the holidays. I shopped around and found out it was on average $12.00 cheaper then othere stores .
I've only used my new can opener 3 times so far. The first time was on a larger can and it only opened the lid most of the way. My husband had to use an old type hand cutter to finish the job. It was tricky getting the can opener in correct position. However, the next time I used it, it worked just fine once I held my tongue just right and got the opener in position. LOL Seriously the 3rd use, it worked just like it is advertised to do. If it continues, I'll love it. I have had thumb joint reconstruction and have arthritis so I think this opener will be suitable as I get more used to it. I love that it takes up so little space when not in use. I would give it a 5 star if I had more experience with it and it continues to do as the last time I used it.
This seemed like a neat little product, but it was heavy (tipped over the cans) and tricky to manipulate. There seemed to be some sort of "trick" to getting it to start properly but neither myself nor my 84-year old Mother (for whom it was purchased) could consistency make it work. Unfortunately it needs to go back for a more conventional and straight-forward style. On the plus side, once it finally started to take off around the can, it was quite fun to watch!
I bought this product for my 86 year old mother, thinking it would be easy for her to operate. After she tried it she told me she could not get it to start. I tried it and she was right. Placing gear on can top was easy, but it took me BOTH HANDS to depress cutter.
This can opener is awkward to use and hard to hold. It is very difficult to place on a can lid and will not puncture the lids easily. It will not fit a large coffee can or a one gallon food can. The cutting mechanism is not long enough to reach the lid on these larger cans in order to puncture it.
This can opener really disappointed me. I thought it was exactly what I wanted and it's close to impossible to get attached to a can and open. I read many reviews and some said it worked fine for them after some practice and I practiced a lot to no avail. I hope something is wrong with this one and it can be replaced with one that works. I am very mechanical and could not see anything wrong. The instructions said the feet should be parallel to the counter when attached and they were not. I have put in back in the box and will return it in a few days.
